Title: Serenity Trailers

Dan Brown - August 4, 2005 01:24 PM (GMT)
Has anyone seen either the new trailer or the old trailer at their local cinema?

I have a feeling that the film might not be marketed as well as it should be in the UK......

willowroolz - August 4, 2005 01:26 PM (GMT)
Haven't seen it yet, but I'm going to Leicester Square tomorrow to two different cinemas, so hopefully one of them will show it :)

Well thats the real test...the film is out soon only a matter of two months so I would expect it to be in Cinemas about now.

I saw The Fantastic Four last week and there was no Serenity trailer...needless to say I was disapointed with that and the film as well....

Im_Here - August 4, 2005 03:41 PM (GMT)
i think the bbfc has only just gave it a rating, according to someone on another forum it should be in the cinema in 'next few weeks'

laughitupfuzzball - August 4, 2005 04:24 PM (GMT)
I've heard that in America they are also showing a small documentary in cinemas showing the story of Firefly's cancellation and it coming to the big screen, hope they do that here too

prophecy girl - August 5, 2005 08:17 AM (GMT)
yeah i hope they do

Might seem strange to bring this up here, but in the States there are two versions of Battlestar Galactica season 1 being released. In September they are getting a full region 1 release, but the Best Buy chain is currently selling the region 2 set to those who can't wait for the superior r1 version. They're getting a bonus, though:

QUOTE
Frankly, there are only TWO real reasons that some of you might want to purchase the U.K. version. First, it features the episodes as seen on Sky One in the U.K., which means that the opening title sequence for each episode is somewhat different than what viewers saw on SciFi here in the States. Second, the Best Buy-exclusive set includes a bonus disc that features a 13-minute preview of Joss Whedon's upcoming Serenity feature film. The preview featurette is in full frame only, and sadly it doesn't include the theatrical trailer for the film (which has recently begun appearing in theaters), but if you're a Firefly fan, that might be enough reason alone for you to want to get your hands on the set.

Something tells me that bonus disc is going to become quite a collectible :ponder:

prophecy girl - August 14, 2005 06:22 PM (GMT)
there was a stand at the convention, showing the two trailers again and again  , selling some drawings, jayne hat  but no books <_<

From an 'insider' on another forum.

I forgot to mention, the first UK trailer hits cinemas next week. Second one to follow shortly after. TV ads kick off in about a months time. First reviews will also appear next month (or the back of this one) with interviews with cast yadada. All the big mags will have coverage. Press screening went very well. So far, this is shaping up very nicely, and I'm pretty confident this one will take people sideways (ie "They aren't gonna see this coming", to quote the trailer).

Serenity officially 15 in UK according to the BBFC website. No cuts were made. This can go either way - either it'll take potential audience out, or it'll make it seen as adult action sci-fi (which does help in the UK sometimes).

Very Creepy...

And it show why the film will be a 15, anyone else got any opinions on this as I have a brother and he's under 15 and he really wanted to see the film, because I let him watch the series and now he won't be able to go.....

Craig G - August 24, 2005 11:37 AM (GMT)
that sucks, but if he isnt that much younger than 15 you could try the ' i think I know how old my own brother is' excuse when you get suspicious looks from the ticket sellers lol

Well is 13....but they are very strict about ages at our local Cinema...I have had to show my I.D. to get into a 18 and i'm nearly 20!

Craig G - August 24, 2005 12:06 PM (GMT)
oooh, nasty.

Well maybe he eill grow a few more inches in time for the premier.

I wish you luck, maybe everyone should give their ideas on how to smuggle an underage firefly fan into the movie . . . ;)

I say strap him into platforms and give him a long jacket, the classics are the best
