Title: The Intruder
Description: 2x02

This weeks ep had some good and bad stuff in it. Good stuff first...
It was great to see them going back to earth. I wondered if they would do this. I was a little worried at the start of the episode that they weren't going to show it, until the flashbacks started. Nice to see the meeting with Hank Landry. Must be a right pain to be able to stargate to earth, and then have to wait 18 days to get back again. Also glad to see some resolution with Weirs boyfriend. Is it me, or is that actor just creepy? Now, presumably she is a free agent, so that she can flirt with Shepard some more.
The bad stuff, when will sci-fi writers learn that you cannot do everything with a virus. Fly a ship, control communications, fly a fighter and eavesdrop on the humans, all at the same time. It must have been an enormous program to do all that. But its OK, because it was sent compressed. The wraith must have paid for a licensed version of Winzip.

 they got a bit carried away with the virus didn't they, not only was it doing all that but it was also guessing their next moves before them  Ultimately that spoiled the ep a little for me although I liked the creepy Hal moments.
 Poor Shepherd such a trusting sort, - erm we can't get you back but don't worry  all through the episode.
Weirs boyfriend or ex should we say was creepy :fear: I felt sorry for her, jerk! like he couldn't have told her from the start. Love the power dynamics between her and Caldwell.

To be fair, I thought Weirs boyfriend was a little hard done by, even if he is a creepy weirdo. She suddenly ups sticks and moves to atlantis, and he doesn't know if she's ever coming back, but then she expects him to wait around indefinitely on the off chance. Hardly surprising that he's found someone else.
I hope they are going to do something with the character of weir, and not just have meaningless flirting with shepard for the next 6 years. I kinda like weir, but there is something about her that reminds me of Janeway, and thats not good. She needs to have some more stories that don't just involve her moping around the base.
I think Caldwell is shaping up as a great character, although I'm not sure why he's in such a mood about not being senior officer on atlantis. He's got his own cool spaceship for gods sake.

there must be a reason why Weir thought he would automatically follow her though, they must have talked about it before hand. :) better off without him though
She isn't as smug as Janeway though and seems to have more respect for the rest of the team although she never really does much

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but she's been gone for about a year !!
Secondly, the virus, spot on,
SG1's done that one before, self-admittedly. Very disappointing plot device. That being said I actually enjoyed the episode. Good to see more of Caldwell and the Daedelus, and nice to see some flashbacks of their time on Earth.
After last week's episode perhaps a little disappointing, moreso given the obvious flaws, but still a step up from the majority of season one IMO.

Like I say, I don't blame him, seeing as he had no idea if she was ever coming back. Weir decided that her career was more important than her relationship, but she can't come back and expect to have her cake and eat it. Also, it was a fairly obvious and predictable plot device, keep the shippers happy.
The Entity episode was more convincing than the intruder. At least that was some kind of freaky electronic life form, rather than a security hole in the Daedalus's O/S.
I agree with James that S2 is shaping up nicely. Having the Daedelus and Caldwell around certain adds something to the series. Losing Ford hasn't really hurt the show. Even though I'm a little critical of Weir and Shepard, I do think that McKay and Zelenka (sp) are great characters.

I really enjoyed this ep. I really liked Sheppard's comment about them having to take "a page from the John Sheppard book of computer repair", that was funny. Also his comments on Hermiod, the Asguard were hilarious.
McKay referred to the SG-1 ep entity, but that wasn't the same, cos the entity after downloading into the malp went into Sam and killed itself eventually. They were dealing with Wraith virus that had taken over almost all their systems which was programmed to take them to the Wraith or vice versa.
I felt sorry for Weir, but then she had left him for over a year, with the possibility she couldn't ever get back. That Simon guy reminded me of a character from SG-1, one of the tollan, Narim i think, is it the same guy?
Anyway, thought the ep was really good, better than this weeks SG-1 Origin.
Ems :)
