PTC Files Indecency Complaint Over Fox’s The Inside

Broadcast Showed Forced Sodomy and S&M Fetishes on Prime Time

LOS ANGELES – Today, the Parents Television Council (PTC), the nation’s most influential advocacy organization protecting children against sex, violence and profanity in entertainment, filed an indecency complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) about the Fox Network television program, The Inside, which aired an episode with themes of forced sodomy and S&M fetishes to prime time viewing audiences.  The PTC, on behalf of its over one million members nationwide, has asked the FCC to issue a Notice of Apparent Liability against each Fox affiliate that aired the program.

The episode that contained the indecent material originally aired at 9:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific and 8:00 p.m. Central on June 15, 2005.  The episode included graphic discussions about the characters’ sexual practices, ***removed for spoilers***  This program was seen in homes across the country on the Fox Network, and in Washington DC, the program aired on WTTG-TV.  According to Nielsen Media Research, at least half a million children viewed the episode.

“Graphic scenes *** are not appropriate for family audiences, and Fox should know better.  This episode will fill young minds with horrific images and warped views about sexuality and human relationships, said L. Brent Bozell, president of the PTC.

“This is yet another prime example of why Congress needs to pass the Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act, because with the threat of higher fines for indecent content, millions of children could be spared from viewing sexually graphic shows like The Inside because the consequences would hopefully cause Fox to think twice before airing such content.”

:ponder: and why would parents be letting children watch a show clearly advertised as a show about serial killers

Personally having seen this episode none of it was terribly graphic, more suggestive although its clearly a show for adults and is advertised as such.

I've never heard of that show, but I wouldn't want to watch Sodomy from "The Inside"

Nothing surprises me about the US these days. Your talking about a country where this is illegal, and yet this isn't.

:fear: shudder :fear:

Total hypocracy of course, why didn't they complain about the graphic violence

Its a great series Nick and the scene they are talking about is very brief is more implied and also entirely essential to the plot, its also not glamorised in any way shape or form.

It should surely be the responsibility of the parents not to let kids watch adult shows if they are that 'concerned'. Why should all tv be made suitable for kids? Adults have a right to watch proper drama. Why aren't kids in bed at that time anyway?? :ponder:

Exactly, it is the parents responsibility. All kids past a certain age should be in bed before 9pm, I know mine are, except Ant of course

Welcome to the boards, Dot Matrix :hibye:
