Title: Lost
grrrarrrgh - July 18, 2005 08:07 AM (GMT)
Saw the trailer for it on Channel 4 soon - they are going to be showing it. Interested in watching but the trailer makes it look a little, hmmm, weird!!!!!! Is it good, what do you think?
Outta Sight - July 18, 2005 08:14 AM (GMT)
I saw my first trailer for it last night as well  It's due to start on 10th August :D If you check out the US Drama board, there's quite a few Lost threads with info and opinions etc

Proceed with caution though, there's an awful lot of spoilers for a Lost newbie ;)
It is good, it's created by J J Abrams of Alias fame, and has a good solid cast. It's weird in parts, think more thriller than supernatural, but I'd definitely recommend it

Yep, as Lisa said be aware of spoilers.
However, I will very soon be making a C4 specific forum over on US Drama Boards so not spoil newbies to the show, including myself! :)

It's about time they decided to show this show over here, i'm well excited.

I saw the E4 advert tonight and I don't know what to think of it personally. I'm just glad that because E4 is now on Freeview that I can see what it is like.

I quite agree. It's like that segment in Matrix: Reloaded where they are all dancing randomly for five minutes. I still can't see the point of it :ponder:

I really like the trailer, yes it will put a few people off, but I'm sure you can all see it's just an arty trailer for an unknown show, that if nothing else, will get people talking about it

I really like the trailer too. Even if I hadn't already heard rave reviews for the show I'd probably tune in anyway because I think the trailer's really strange and I'd want to see what it was all about. I just hope it lives up to the hype.
Dan Dispossessed - July 23, 2005 12:35 AM (GMT)
Newsnight Review reviewed it tonight and they were all impressed by it, so it does look like it will be good :)
endgame - July 23, 2005 07:11 PM (GMT)
I caught a newer version of the trailer earlier today on E4 - it's basically the same (people dancing and the Portishead song) but there's a voice over of the various actors and actresses saying things like "one of us is a hero, one of us is a saint, one of us is a murderer" and so on, and ends on "all of us are lost" OSLT. All very intriguing. I actually like this approach to advertising the show - first grabbing the attention of potential viewers with a, quite frankly, weird advert and then slowly revealing more info about the show as it comes closer to the premiere (if that is what they're doing). It certainly got my attention!

Snap, Paula! I've posted the same thing on the USD board :lmao: I agree it's very clever to start advertising early with a very ambiguous trailer and then gradually update it as it gets closer to the start of the show

Fangy and grrr - July 24, 2005 10:18 AM (GMT)
Anyone know how C4 are showing it ? I mean will E4 be an episode ahead or will they show the next episode on E4 straight after the C4 episode like they did with WAT and Shameless ?
Also anyone know what time its on ?

The channel 4 website hasn't put up a start time for the show, but if it's definitely starting on 10 August, which is a Wednesday, then it'll likely be taking over the Desperate Housewives timeslot at 10pm (as Big Brother will be finished by then). Not sure about E4, but maybe they'll run Lost the way they ran DH with the next ep on E4 after the channel 4 showing. But I'm just guessing, maybe someone else knows  :)
Persephone - July 24, 2005 02:10 PM (GMT)
The pilot ep should be double length, so it might be the week after, that they would start showing the next ep on E4, at least that's what I'm presuming :ermm:
Fangy and grrr - July 24, 2005 02:42 PM (GMT)
Thanks Endgame and Lisa. :)
The 10:00pm slots sounds right although I'm shocked to hear that Big Brother will actually end ! I thought this season was gonna keep going forever ... or does it just feel like that. ;) 10:00pm on wednesday does mean it will clash with The Wire which starts this week and which I was hoping to encourage people to watch but I have a feeling in the rush to watch Lost it will get ... ahem ... Lost. Sorry.

Is it wrong to be so excited about a show that I know absolutely nothing about? I guess I really should get out more

I quite like the trailer, i saw it in the cinema. It doesn't give anything away but leaves intrigue. I shall be watching it again, i impatiently downloaded it as i couldn't be bothered to wait! But its always good to watch these things again. :)

If you're really desperate to see the trailer, it's usually on before, during, or after the 10pm Big Brother show on channel 4 :) (or you can download it from the Channel 4 website, although it wouldn't w0rk on my stupid pc :tear: )
Persephone - July 26, 2005 05:40 PM (GMT)
Okay, managed to find an ABC trailer for Lost, which shows a bit more about what the shows about, for people who may be a little put off by the C4 trailers. It's about a minute and a half long, but could be construed as a little spoilery, so only click if you're sure
