Not a great episode but worth watching just for the explosive urine !!! (at least I think thats what it is :( )

Nope, not a good episode at all. The premise is okay, and I like the spin they put on a pretty bog standard story by making the Tannat root the base of the ammunition for all Peacekeeper weapons. It's an idea that's thrown in there, but they never really make enough of it.
I think familiarity breeds contempt here. I've seen similar stories done so many times before on Voyager, Stargate SG1 (it just happened to be one of the few episodes I've seen, although I can't remember it very well and have no idea what it was called), the original Star Trek and probably others. I'm not sure where this episode fits into that lot chronologically, but that's really no excuse. The worm is very Matrixy, which is weird seeing as they both screened in 1999.
On the plus side we get to see D'Argo mature a bit more, and Pilot starts to develop as a character. Karen and I have already discussed the way the relationship between he and Aeryn is progressing. It's interesting here that Pilot trusts her above any of the others.
Angie Milliken's turn as Volmae is bizarre. At times the way she speaks is very similar to Matala in the previous episode. I think maybe she's a little too far out there to be really convincing. The inhabitants themselves, who we learn are distantly related to Sebaceans (but can take the heat  ), remind me of the aliens in the Star Trek episode The Apple. I kep expecting David Soul to appear. trust me when I say this is not a good thing! And as for Rygel and his explosive piss... <_<

Did anyone else notice how shiny Crichtons arms were in this episode?
No?
Just me then ;)

But they were really very shiny, worryingly so.

Okay, what could appear to be an interesting episode is hampered throughout with just too many comparisons. The tannet root in particular is a strange name to go with, synonymous with Rosemary's Baby, I'm not too sure whether this is on purpose or not? I'll have to throw in the obvious Soylent Green and the Munchkins for some reason too. Not a great ep, i'm surprised how easily Zhaan succumbed also, it would seem from a very limited knowledge, to be totally against her traits, isn't she some kind of empath priestess of something?
Two redeeming parts, Aeryn explaining how she managed to pinpoint the malaise with Rygel, through NOT being a scientist, and Crichton's face with that piece of info  And also, the twist with the Peacekeepers being completely responsible for the entire thing.
Not a great ep, but still watchable, and the green piss, toxic :D

Blimey, Lisa, have you been having a big catch up day or what?! :D

No I watched some on Friday, (as promised) and the other 2 yesterday before I went out. First real opportunity to post though, I've been out most of the weekend ;)

It's not a particularly great episode and for some strange reason it reminded me of the look at the Princess trilogy. I kept expecting them to drip that stuff on their tongue and kiss.
It's interesting in these early episodes how they have tried to develop a relationship between D'Argo and Zhaan that seems quite weird. At least to me anyway.
I agree with Steve that the worm thing was very Matrixy.
As well as Rygel peeing and sweating explosives this episode has some great humour. What springs to mind was...
Aeryn: she gives me a woody !
Woody, it's a human saying I've heard you say it often when you don't trust someone or they make you nervous, they give you...
Crichton: Willy's. She gives you the Willy's.
