They only made 8 Manimals - I caught some of them last week - his staples of an eagle and a panther must have saved some money :) (cue shot of pulsing hand)

I saw part of an episode of Automan the other week but I didn't understand what Automan actually was. :shrug:

at school I remember discussing how they did the pulsing hand thing - we reckoned that they were injecting air into the hand.

Looking back on it though that can't be right - pretty good effect for it's time, no? :shrug: :ponder:

I nearly watched Manimal last night but managed to restrain myself :lol:

Now if they want to show some other gems I'm putting in a request for Gemini Man - where Ben Murphy had a watch that could make him invisible for 15 minutes (any longer and he'd stay invisible forever!! :fear: ) - and Tales Of The Gold Monkey, with Stephen Collins and Roddy McDowell :thumbsup:

Although Tales of the Gold Monkey was on BBC1 (on Monday nights I think :unsure: ) in the early 80s, so you should've seen that :)

It was an Indiana Jones rip-off, kind of, about this guy called Jake Cutter who had a seaplane and ran a cargo service in the South Sea islands, helped by his mate Corky and their one-eyed dog. Needless to say he got involved with bad guys every week :lol:

It was essential viewing in our house :lol:

Tales of the Gold Monkey and Automan don't ring any bells with me but I loved Manimal :wub: I can't believe only 8 episodes were made :o In my rose tinted foray into the past, it seemed to run for ages :unsure: Also loved Streethawk although that was only shortly lived as well :(

That does it, I'm upgrading my Sky package pronto!! I used to love 'Automan', 'Manimal' and 'Tales Of The Gold Monkey'.

If your a fan of all these shows, try and get hold of a copy "Heat Vision and Jack". Its a hilarious spoof on these types of shows, made by Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Owen Wilson. The pilot is available on various torrent sites (the series was never made).

There is a torrent here, if you need one. The quality is a bit poor, but it downloads pretty quickly.

Bravo also show Knight Rider and McGuyver at the moment.

I was a HUGE Knight Rider fan when it was on in the 80's but I have to admit I find it difficult to watch now :unsure: Every now and then I'll put it on but I find it so dated now and I actually prefer remembering it through my rose coloured glasses :rolleyes:

But I can always watch an episode of McGuyver :thumbsup:

I agree with you there. I feel that same way about watching cartoons from my youth, watching Hong Kong Phooey as an adult and seeing how rubbish it was has ruined my fond memories of it. :(
