Title: Atlantis Hitting Terrestial...
Phillip Culley - July 6, 2005 10:31 PM (GMT)
Just noticed in the TV guide that season 1 of Stargate: Atlantis is starting on the 15th of July on Channel 5, at 8pm :)

And how long will it last in that time slot?
I mean, look what they did with their Buffy repeats. Vanished, without a trace. And they still have no idea when they're going to show the remaining Angel episodes they've got
Channel 5 are very good at buying cult shows (and bless 'em for it) but then they treat the shows like utter sh*t. (Unless it features scantily clad women in a show with a title that rhymes with armed :lmao: )

It depends on how well it does initially. If it does relatively well then I'd expect it to hold the timeslot. If it doesn't then it'll disappear to some obscure corner of the C5 schedule.

I noticed this. I haven't actually seen Stargate at all.
Is this worth a go?

Number 6 Stargate SG-1 is definitely worth a try, I'm not sure about Atlantis though....

so stargate is on C4
and stargate atlantis is on C5
:ponder: totally logic of course

I liked SG: Atlantis
True, it isn't as good as SG but then we haven't had 50,000 episodes (or something like that  ) of SG:A to get to know and love the characters :D (yet!).
Give it a go, it's fun and won't tax your brain cells  And they have pretty people, guns, and explosions

I'm going to give it a go (if my sieve-like head manages to remember) :)
I've given up on the theory that I was going to watch SG-1 up to the end of season 7 (?) before watching Atlantis, seeing as I've only just picked up my SG-1 dvds again

I think I'd got the other way Phillip. There was one perhaps two really good episodes and equally, a couple of really dire entries as well. The vast majority however seem to be middle of the road, 'safe' episodes bordering on either side of average.

Will this make any sense to me since I've not really watched SG1? I know the basic premise is that they use the stargate to travel to other worlds but that's the extent of my Stargate knowledge :ermm:

It's one of those things where you'd undoubtedly appreciate it more should you have seen SG1 as well, but it's not essential that you have done. You'd get away quite easily without ever having watched SG1 to any great degree.
