Title: The Next Book.....
jamiearmour - June 30, 2005 01:20 PM (GMT)
Ok, the book club has been somewhat neglected/forgotten about lately, totally my bad
So we need to decide on a new book to start on Monday.
As I recall, the most recent leanings were towards "About A Boy" Would everyone still be up for that? Or is something else in place as the book du jour?
We haven't got long people, so lets get deciding.

I'm happy with About A Boy (since I already have the book ) but Tom Holt books have been getting a lot of praise over in the What are you reading thread so that's another option

I thought we`d already decided on About A Boy ?
I have a shiny new copy, too. Although now that I`ve got it and peeked at the back cover info, I think I`d have got around to buying it anyway, so I`m not fussed. :)
Having said that , Tom Holt`s The Portable Door sounds really good and I`d be happy with that choice.
I`ll be on Harry Potter 6 Hiatus from the 16th onwards, though. ;)

Oooh, if anyone wants to order it , it`s on Amazon for £5.59 or Play for £5.49 ( inc.delivery ).
That`s for the Tom Holt book - just realised that might not be clear.

 We have to do Harry Potter, I'm sure there will be quite a few of us reading it :D
I'm skipping About a Boy, sorry I've still got too many books to read at present - blames LP & GWF & Melian
jamiearmour - June 30, 2005 04:10 PM (GMT)
Hmmmm, The Harry Potter idea bears consideration :ponder:
But so does Tom Holt. Which book in particular did you have in mind Laura?
Laura - June 30, 2005 06:08 PM (GMT)
Count me out of a Harry Potter book, I can't stand them <ducks flying objects :fear:>.
I'm not that fussed about which TH book tbh, The Portable Door seems to be a popular choice though :). I've read Nothing But Blue Skies, Portable Door, Falling sideways and don't really mind re-reading any of them or reading a new book :ponder:

I didn't mean reading the Harry Potter book first btw  just in case it looked that way

Mmm, but I do like that the books come out on a Saturday so that the school children get the weekend to read them.
Outta Sight - July 1, 2005 08:38 AM (GMT)
I'll be skipping the book club this month as well. By the time I finish my current book, Harry Potter will have arrived and there's just not enough hours in the day :lmao:
melian - July 1, 2005 11:57 AM (GMT)
Sorry Alex
I've literally just finished reading TH's Portable Door (about 15mins ago :lmao: ) so that one is still fresh in my mind if other people want to read that. I also fancy reading About a Boy too if anyone else wants to :D
Not really helping matters much am I
little pixie - July 1, 2005 01:05 PM (GMT)
Oh dear, I feel obliged to go to Play and order another book, la la la ....! :whistling:
Margot C - July 1, 2005 03:02 PM (GMT)
I read About A Boy recently, so I probably won't join in...
Ditto what Laura said regarding a Harry Potter book :fear: :x

Maybe we could split the difference and have 2 books to choose from this month, About a boy and/or The Portable Door (with a side helping of Harry Potter for most of us ;) ). What do you think?
little pixie - July 1, 2005 03:15 PM (GMT)
Sounds good to moi !
melian - July 4, 2005 11:39 AM (GMT)
Did we decide yet? Or do you guys want to wait until next month so that people can concentrate on Harry Potter?
What do you think Jamie?
