Despite being a complete change of pace to the previous ep, I've always enjoyed this one.
Fairly gentle uneventful storyline but nice to see Sisko getting a lot of the screen time - the Sisko/Jake relationship is one of my favourites and really well portrayed imo :)
Nice little character development side plot for Bashir as well, although I'm a bit fuzzy on the exact outcome as I watched this after I got back from the pub

I have always liked this episode, purely because of Gul Dukat's face when Ben and Jake arrive in orbit of Cardassia, and the desperate back pedalling of popular history  :lmao:
The Bashir storyline? Not exactly my favourite federation doctor. He does get better as the series continues, but in this ep, nah, just annoying

Didn't that woman realise that she has mistaken Bashir for someone else at the infamous party, and after rsolving that confusion they had a jolly time together? :)
A welcome change of pace after the all-out action of The Die is Cast, and some nice Sisko/Jake-o (sounds like a superhero combo :)) stuff.
And the infamous debut of... the goatee! although it was obviously fake this episode :)

The first time I watched it I thought to myself, "Christ! Not another mirror universe story"
But the Goatee grew on me and pretty soon I found it impossible to think of Ben without seeing it

Although this discussion might be mor relevant to The Way of the Warrior, I have to congratulate Avery Brooks for going all the way and shaving his head to go with the goatee - it really makes him look more like a hard nut who's going to give the Dominion a good kick-in :)

I'd forgotten about the "fell off just before we shot this scene, and was hastily stuck back on" goatee
Agree that Brooks/Sisko looked like a hard nut with the shaven head and beard in S4 :)

Cheers Phillip, 'tis all coming back to me now

I could make comments regarding Leela and Bashir's probable thoughts at the start of the episode, but I understand minors visit this board. :)
'Tis an enjoyable episode, and Brooks and Lofton give a good performance on the whole sisko-Jake relationship. :)
Though I must wonder what Starfleet command must think about Sisko's little expedition, even if it was done using shore leave (IIRC)...

Quite enjoyed this one, although it all seemed a bit daft (Sisko building the ship on his own in 3 weeks  ). I liked the way it thrust him and Jake together, their scenes are some of my favourites.
The Bashir sub plot was alright, I suppose, if a little twee. Oh look, she didn't recognise him, she's not so bad and she came first but didn't get what she really wanted, so he's come out best after all. Ho hum.
