Title: Global Frequency
Description: Making the Impossible happen.

dtadamson - June 17, 2005 08:01 AM (GMT)
Hi folks,

I join the forum the other day - mainly because I was wanting to post on the BBC Cult forum but only found out it had been closed. This forum seemed to be mentioned a bit so I thought - I could post here....

I'm trying to get the word out about a show that's never even been shown on Broadcast TV.

There is a pilot which has leaked on to the Internet via Bit Torrent and the Pilot has wowwed everyone who's seen it so far.

Global Frequency is based on the comic book of the same name written by British Author Warren Ellis. It was his attempt at "Rescue Fiction".

The TV show is a little like Mission Impossible with The X-files and International Rescue all thrown in.

The dialog is witty and the show doesn't dumb down to the audience and the story certainly doesn't pull punches.

It's starring Michelle Forbes (Ensen Roe from Star Trek TNG) as Miranda Zero and I can safely say it's best piece of casting I've EVER seen.

Anyway here's the daft part. The pilot was made, got good reviews and tested well. But the Network had a change of President and decided to go in another direction. That's despite the show being thought of as a good show.

Fans of the Producer and of the concept have been hunting for details about the show and then suddenly the other week it hit the internet and well... all hell broke loose.

There's now a campaign to do the impossible - and I'd like to ask you all to think about join it.

We want to get this show on the air. Somehow someway. But it's not trying to SAVE a show - and lets face it those rarely w**k. Its trying to give BIRTH to a show. By spreading the word over the internet and creating a demand for the show we hope to prove that the network that passed on Global Frequency need to take another look.

This has never been attempted - and it might very well fail.

But if THIS does somehow w**k - it will open the floodgates to other intelligent TV shows that we sci-fi fans all love that deserve a second chance to get on the air or just get more episodes made.

However in all of this we aren't going to do things half baked - right now it's all about getting word out about a show many have never heard of but should do. But once we hit critcal mass we'll be organised and we hope get the word out to the world and the press.

The show's high concept is all about ordinary people joining forces and overcoming impossible odds to make the world a better place - for that reason alone I hope you'll look into this. We want to inspire fans to follow the show and then we hope inspire the world with the show's message.

For more info I recommend you check out the following.

www.kfmonkey.blogspot.com - this is the blog of the TV Show producer and Pilot writer John Rogers - it's a smart blog in it's own right.
www.frequencysite.com - this is a fan site that was made in anticpation of the show reaching the air.

If you want to do one impossible thing this year come join us on a Global Frequency.

 Hi dtadamson.

Sounds interesting, I haven't heard of this pilot.

Unfortunately the cancellations in the last few years have made me a little cynical to say the least. Best of luck with the campaign, we certainly need some more sci-fi.

To be honest. If our campaign works - or even if it makes significant head way.....

The level of cancelations you've seen recently will drop off significantly as we'll be able to prove in the same way that Family Guy had an audience that doesn't show up in ratings - that Sci-fi shows have a huge dedicated audience that are more than enough to sustain a quality show.

I'd recommend you check out those two links I posted - and if you want to see the pilot you'd have to wait. While it's out there on the net as a torrent it is techinally illegal in many places to watch the show.

But if we get enough people talking about the show and the idea we have - of basically bringing a show to life via presure from the INTERNET - proving there is a brand new way of making things happen in TV... Then well we'll have changed the world of TV forever.

It's worth just getting involved just for that alone. But the show it's self is REALLY worth it.

I heard about Global Frequency about six months ago. It sounded quite promising. Unfortunately it's one of this season's pilots that hasn't been picked up :(

If you feel bad that it's not been picked up then you should pop along to the John Rogers blog - www.kfmonkey.blogspot.com and see what others are thinking and get involved.

Seriously. The ONLY reason this show wasn't picked up was because people didn't know about it and didn't think there would be a demand.

We can SHOW that demand exists. Seriously what have we got to lose?

Apathy is how things don't changed.

So if anyone wants to change things - give me a shout and join the Global Frequency.

*Yes I know this sounds a little like a cult. But the show and what is was trying to tell as it's story is worth it. Anyone and I mean ANYONE can make a difference.

It's like the B5 concept only more real to us.

So I suggest everyone gives this one a go.

There's actually an article about Global Frequency on page 3 of today's Metro, the free London paper, with a nice big pic of Michelle Forbes alongside it :)

The most popular TV show never screened

It is described as a brilliant mix of Alias and The X Files.

It has already received rave reviews and has a loyal fanbase of thousands around the world.

But new sci-fi TV show Global Frequency has never actually been seen on the small screen.

That might just change, though, as the power of the internet could force TV executives to show it even though they originally passed on the pilot episode.

That episode was mysteriously leaked onto the net and has been picked up by thousands of downloaders using the unauthorised Bit Torrent peer-to-peer file-sharing program. They have not stopped raving about it since.

For Michael Weiss, head of file-sharing company Morpheus, the leak is 'just another positive example' of file-sharing on the net.

'There have been countless success stories of how musicians - either aspiring or established - have turned to P2P to build or reinvigorate their careers,' he said. 'It is not surprising that the same effect is now beginning to happen in film and TV.'

The show's writer, John Rogers, who denies being involved with the leak, said he would like to release the pilot as a DVD for the fans.

'If that's successful, that's a pretty good argument to pick up the show," he added.

Studio bosses at Warner Bros have declined to comment on the show's future and warned downloaders they are infringing copyright laws.

Global Frequency, based on a graphic novel by English writer Warren Ellis, revolves around a secret global organisation of 1,001 'hi-tech people'. Each of them possesses a special talent used to fight bizarre world threats.

It stars Michells Forbes as the enigmatic heroine Miranda Zero.
