Title: Who Saved The Daleks?
Description: Spoiler(ish) theories.

OK lets look at the contenders for the evil sod who either saved or resurrected the Daleks.

1. Davros. A bit obvious, and that's not something that can be said about any other plots this season, so he's only a contender.

2. The Master. Could be, he may be pissed off enough at the timelords to have saved their mortal enemies from the fire.

3. Adam. No, hear me out. This series has been really big on the self reference so far, and he would have a grudge against the Doctor. He also had a good few millenia of knowledge downloaded into his head. Plus he's been to Sattelite 5 before.

4. Van Statten. Not really likely, but have you seen the trailers on the beeb website? 5 Days to go and mysterious voice has declared himself to be the God of all daleks. Just egomaniacal enough to be American

5. Rose's Dad. OK, I'm just getting silly now.

6. Paul McGann. Upset at not being invited to do a regeneration he decides to. Oh I'm just giving up here

So who do you think it is? Come on, we need random speculation here

Could it possibly have something to do with Jack's missing years?

For some reason, when I saw the preview and heard the voice saying "they survived through me", I immediately thought of the Face of Bo. Don't know why. I think its cause the voice seemed quite booming.

Perhaps a better question is how they survived. I assume from the time war that they were erased from existence. Maybe it is Adam, seeing as he had all that knowledge, he could build a few new ones.

Of course, it could be the doctors arch enemy, Michael Grade!!

Well, they've made a point of mentioning the face of Boe several times already, so he's a possibility, although it would well just be a red herring.

I think it's the Moxx of Balhoon, speaking through a voice box :)

I think it might be The Emperor Dalek last seen in The Evil Of The Daleks which was broadcast in 1967 and starred Patrick Troughton as The Doctor.

It certainly sounds like an Emperor Dalek and this would help the storylines as well, I don't think they would bring back Davros because it might be confusing to new viewers.

But it is still a high probability that it is Davros.....we shall have to wait and see.

Personally my vote is with the Emperor Dalek as well - when I heard the voice I thought of him right away - in fact Davros never came to mind at all! :)

I immediately thought Davros - but the voice didn't sound like him at all.

I just think that The Emperor Dalek also looks like something that they would bring back to the series because it just looked so good especially at the time maybe this time they could have himself detatch from the cables and move around!

Yeah, the voice might be a little different though might have got a bit gruffer considering he's been kept alive for thousands of years in that bath chair!

But it does sound like The Emperor Dalek a big booming voice definitely somebody with that kind of stature would talk like that.

I'm not a fully paid up whovian, so my knowledge is a bit sketchy, but wasn't the emperor dalek just davros in a ball? According to the internet it was.

Click for more info. I like the special weapons Dalek.

Can't we eliminate the emperor dalek and davros anyway? If the daleks were wiped out in the time war, they wouldn't have been around to help the rest of the daleks to survive.

No you are thinking Of Rememberance Of The Daleks which starred Sylvester McCoy and was broadcast in in October 1988 which revealed late on in the story that The Emperor Dalek then was Davros.

But in the Patrick Troughton story The Emperor Dalek was an advanced Dalek who was in control. Basically any Dalek can become The Emperor Dalek if they mutate to that stage of development.

:p

Thats what they told you!

Anyhoo, how could the emperor dalek survive the time war? Unless it was the dalek from "Dalek". Could he have possibly survived? He was already mutating anyway. I always thought that self destruct looked a bit elaborate. Maybe it was a transmat.

Yes that is a possibility that the Dalek seen in 'Dalek' brought the other Daleks back to life, somehow....

....but that is quite a long shot as combining with Rose's DNA made The Dalek more mellow and nice...

...and trying to take over Earth is not a nice thing

Could of all been a ruse. Or maybe he just teleported to a really nasty thing, and got them to touch him as well.

Do transmats w**k inside Neverland?

The Emperor Dalek? Hmmm, interesting idea. But have you all watched the Countdown teaser on the beeb site? In it, the mysterious voice declares itself to be the "God of the Daleks" at which point a couple of hundred Daleks start screeching "Worship him, Worship him."

Could the Emperor Dalek be so egotistical? I thought he was the paragon of the socialist ideal. "All Daleks are equal and will conquer the Galaxy" type thing.

Davros has the ego to want to be a God, so it is looking as though he's the most likely candidate, and he would have been bound to have an escape plan at the end of the Time War, and a major grudge against the Doctor, and the "Bad Wolf" seems to have been enjoying toying with the Doctor of late.

So at the moment, we haven't got a clue. (Which, go on, admit it, we love.) and will have to wait and see.

Roll on Saturday evening.

Well I'm not sure I'll be too happy if it is Davros, in my opinion the best Dalek stories have not involved him.

He should really have stayed dead at the end of Genesis Of The Daleks.

Every Dalek (Excl. Dalek and Bad Wolf) epsiode since that one has involved Davros and its gone a bit too far.

The character imo was flawed and has played his part in the Doctor Who world.

But maybe I'm wrong and Russell T Davies has done it again , if anyone can make Davros fresh and new and put him in the plot in a decent context then I will be happy. I have faith in him.....

.....but please Russell if you do kill him (again!!) make sure this time he stays dead.
