Angel is still haunted by flashbacks of his 150-year love affair with Darla and has Gunn help track her down, but he soon discovers that he is faced with an impossible choice: watch her die from a terminal illness or use his dark powers to turn her back into a vampire and give her eternal life.
one very fantastic slo mo entrance ............ ahhhh the return of dru (even if for a :fear: reason) ... bad lyndsay
the trials are great but to end up being refused a second chance because she already a second chance <_<
the flashback about holtz are interesting
darla trying to be turned by an average (lame) vamp ... :shifty:

Lindsey: Looks like our Darla was a w**king girl in the New World. Syphilis is what she was dying from when she was human. Now she's human again. Kind of picking up where she left off. Of course, today something like that could be cleared up with a few antibiotics -- if you catch it soon enough. We're about a month and, what?, 400 years too late?

darla finally accepting her fate just when dru arrived :tear:
a great episode
This always reminded me a bit of 'The Avengers' as there were sometimes bizarre fiendish 'trials' they would be put through in some devilish village. Usually Emma Peel would end up being trussed up in a bondage leaning fantasy while Steed would have to ride in to rescue her. Clearly this does not exactly equate to The Trial but the similarity always seemed striking to me. I wonder if this was some sort of homage.
As prophecy girl comments a great episode if not quite one of the best. Putting Angel through all of that but having to accept that there was nothing that could be done is somehow unsatisfying though I suppose it does 'force' the events in a certain direction. 8/10. sk
:tear: Very sad episode
Strange how Angel is willing to sacrifice himself for Darla when he wouldn't opt for humanity to be with Buffy
Ah poor Darla :tear:
I'm really enjoying this season because i love all the darla and angel interaction in the episodes. I loved the way Angel would die to try and save Darla even after everything she did to him. Darla starting to act human finally
It's a pity Darla can't be saved. But yay for Dru, i always love her returns, creepy ending though. :fear:
