Title: Haunted
Description: Kelley Armstrong

melian - June 8, 2005 04:41 PM (GMT)
Synopsis from Amazon.co.uk
Eve Levine - half-demon, black witch and devoted mother - has been dead for three years. She has a great house, an interesting love life and can't be killed again - which comes in handy when you've made as many enemies as Eve. Yes, the afterlife isn't too bad - all she needs to do is find a way to communicate with her daughter Savannah and she'll be happy. But fate - or more exactly, the Fates - have other plans. Eve owes them a favour, and they've just called it in. An evil spirit called the Nix has escaped from hell. She feeds on chaos and death, and is very good at persuading people to kill for her. The Fates want Eve to hunt her down before she does any more damage, but the Nix is a dangerous enemy - previous hunters have been sent mad in the process. As if that's not problem enough, it turns out that the only way to stop her is with an angel's sword. And Eve's no angel...

Kelley Armstrong's newest book in her Supernatural Women series was released on paperback on 27th May ;)

I've enjoyed the previous books of hers that I've read, thanks to Alex's recommendation, so I'll probably pick this up at some point :)

She seems to write a couple of books about each female character, including one that introduces her new one. I didn't really like Eve in the last book so I hope that my prior feelings doesn't taint this one

Edit: the english in this sentance makes no sense

I'm about half way now. It's really good, and it has an extract from her next book in the back. The new one is about Eleana again!!

:yahoo: Excellent, she is my favourite character but we have to wait another year :tear:

At least we get some more.

I should be able to make a start on it today

:)

Still ploughing through Industrial Magic...not too far to go, but it's having to wait at the moment- I'm currently enjoying "Hitler and Stalin Parrellel Lives" as bedtime reading...all 1200 pages of it. :( Not exactly feel-good reading material.

Not as much as I enjoyed Bitten to be honest. I don't get the lead characters as much, not as familiar with Paige and Lucas as I was with Elena and Clay... if that makes sense- probably because I skipped Dime Store Magic. :)

That'll be it then

Although you can probably tell that I prefer the werewolf based books too

Yes, they're that bit more exciting aren't they, in my opinion, they're more realistic as well- odd way to describe a super-natural novel.

It would be a good way to get revenge on people however, freak them out a la Giles method in A New Man chasing Maggi

I preferred Dime Store Magic to Industrial Magic Jo, you would relate to the characters far more having read it :)

melian - June 15, 2005 11:46 AM (GMT)
Yeah. KA seems to like to slowly introduce her new main characters over a couple of books. It's good though, you get to know about them and their background

melian - June 16, 2005 12:18 PM (GMT)
Ok. Got about 10 pages left to read :tear:

This has been one hell of a good book! I started out not really liking the character of Eve, but now I think she is my favourite of them all

laughitupfuzzball - June 23, 2005 05:19 PM (GMT)
:yahoo: Excellent book and :tear: at the long wait until the next one.

spoiler ******** spoiler ******* spoiler **********

Re the ending, I thought that Angels have more of a physical presence in the world? Or is it just the sword thing, I thought Savannah would see Eve at the end, but no :tear: :tear:

Finally finished Industrial Magic this morning. I thoroughly enjoyed it- especially the ending and the involvement of Elena, Clay and Jeremy, although something was lacking for me to make it as good as Bitten- again probably not having read Dime Store. I liked the vampires, werewolves, witches and shamans etc joining forces- all thrilling stuff. Other characters like Jaime seemed a little boring and pointless to me- also a bit longwinded in parts that didn't even contribute to the plot.
Overall, worth a read. 6/10 :)

I think you would enjoy it more reading the other one first
:) Clay is just hilarious  how antisocial
