Moya takes refuge in a strange interstellar phenomenon to evade a Peacekeeper Marauder. Unfortunately, the phenomenon is a swarm of insect-like creatures that swiftly infest Moya...

What can I say. I love this episode, from the look on Johns face when he sees the image of the Marauder, to his reaction to the cloud, to him killing the 'bug' by trapping it in a bit of cloth and them smacking it all over the room, to just about everything!! Oh, and them having to acknowledge Rygel as their Sovereign was a bit of a giggle too!!

I must admit that this was never one of my favourites, and is indicative of why it took me so long to grow to love the series.

On the positive side the character relationships are growing, especially here between Crichton and Zhaan and Crichton and Aeryn. The chemistry between Ben Browder and Claudia Black is starting to kick in, as witnessed in the evocative final scene.

For me, though, the premise seems a little too familiar in a seen-it-all-before kind of way. The Draks themselves look silly (had this episode been later in the series they probably would have used cgi to animate them, much as with the Ancients), although the scene where Crichton tries to kill the first one is hilarious. The music is just awful in a cheap Doctor Who kind of way. And Rygel spends another episode wandering about in Moya's innards.

However, there is an indication of the kind of rug-pulling that Farscape starts to do with increasing regularity later in its development. The arrival of the Peacekeeper Marauder gives what was rapidly becoming a yawnsome episode a more tense finale, which redeems it to a degree.

Most other series would happily have let the crew play out the truce and ended with a "they all lived happily ever after" kind of denouement. Farscape, as becomes the norm, plays with your expectations and then throws something extra into the mix. This isn't a good example of it by any means, but it is a welcome beginning.

Okay, got to watch this one this afternoon before the footy;

On the positive side, the characters continue to develop, of them all in this one it's still Crichton who shines, but I actually like D'Argo, which is about the first time since the series began. Rygel was funny without having to descend to toilet humour, which again was pretty much a first, and the story itself was kind of interesting.

On the negative side, the creature effects still don't impress me too much, I'm sure things will get better, and Rygel is growing on me, but the creature effects here were uninspiring. As with the previous episode, the whole replicant issue has been done many times before, Trek amongst them once again, but more pointedly with The Invasion of the Body Snatchers. It's never good being compared to a classic movie unless you hope to come close. EfG didn't come close, but was still rather enjoyable.

The only thing I'd further add would be that the development seems a little askew. After the last episode where John seemed to be accepting his place and role, here again he's questioning it.

On the whole, enjoyable. I'd seen this episode before and not cared too much for it. With the weight of expectation gone it wasn't actually that bad.

Onto the next episode tomorrow night all being well :)

I think I'm starting to enjoy Farscape.

I liked this episode, I guess not being a fan of Star Trek is probably a good thing, since I've just read Angels' review :lol: Okay, I'll agree with the 'body snatchers' part. Yes, I enjoyed this ep, I hadn't realised that there was such a biological difference betwen Aeryn and John, but obviously so, since the heat had such an effect on Aeryn, and watching her pleading to John to kill her, if need be :(

I didn't find the plot too bad, not original but still enjoyable. I liked the scene with the peacekeepers and the multiple John's, and I'm pretty sure I'd insert the good quote by John here, if I could remember it. Even Rygel didn't annoy so much. I liked the 'exit' scene, John and Aeryn standing on the deck watching the Genesis exit, nice effect, shimmering gold ribbons. Although I'm still not sure how they could do that, wouldn't gravity send John and Aeryn spiralling into space?

Overall, nice character build ups, still not convinced by D'Argo's makeup/prosthetics though. I can also see what Steve means, with the peacekeepers turning the ep from a perhaps dull episode to a very tense finish, and the draks, mmmmh, not brilliant.

Oh dear :)

Very unimpressed with this one - if I'm doing other things and ignoring it completely it can't be doing it's job well.

Perhap's it's one of those episodes you have to go back and rewatch in retrospect...
