In the hours before the Shadows and the Vorlons meet Sheridan's alliance at Corriana 6, Ivanova and Lorien search the last of the First Ones, and Londo races back to Centauri Prime in hope of removing all Shadow influence before the Vorlon planetkiller arrives.

I remember being slightly bemused by this when I first saw it. I thought "OK Cap'n Clone, all you have to do is tell the Shadows and the Vorlons to bugger off and they will"

That said it was a great finale to the Shadow war arc and worth the price of the video just to see Vir's final wave to Morden

There's a reason JMS concluded the Shadow war in that manner Tony, a reason that's a little spoilery at this point though  Let's just say that he wanted it to end a little differently than say some other events that pan out towards the end of season 4 ;)

Hi James. Long time, no speak. Hope you're well.

I think when I first watched it I wasn't used to how JMS did things. As S4 develops it does start to make sense but, watching it for the first time.....

I think most people reacted in pretty much the same way when it first aired Tony. It makes a little more sense in hindsight.

Ah that's good, cos I thought this ep was a bit confusing, but still pretty great. I was thinking "where next for the remaining 16 eps of the season?" I'm guessing they'll have to sort out Earth.

I loved the demise of Morden, and the little wave Vir gave him. Great piece of continuity to bring that scene from a previous ep into play.

This ep kinda reminds me a little of an event in the Dragonlance books, (spoiler precautions taken for all currently reading Dragonlance who haven't got to that bit yet. i.e Paul :)) in that the first ones leaving the galaxy and allowing the younger races to make their own way was rather like the Gods leaving Krynn in the Dragonlance series.

A lot the fans were confused when Joe ended the Shadow War. Despite the show always been on two tracks, the Shadow War and the Human Civil War, in the earlier seasons it was always the former that seemed to take precedence in fans' minds. The Human story is just as important, which will become apparent as the rest of the season unfolds, and for my money gets a better conclusion.

So the Shadow/Vorlon war is over after Sheridan gave them both a good ticking off ;)

As has been said it does seem to all reach a conclusion rather suddenly but does make sense in the grand scheme of things

Even taking into account JMS's reasons for doing this I always find the end of this episode to be a crushing disappointment. It feels rushed and weak, and after everything that's preceded it I find it one of the biggest let downs in any series I've followed. The Shadow War deserved something better than a trite Star Trek type "get off my ship" ending, imo :(

Still, the various fleets looked pretty in the short time they had on screen :)

I was disappointed the first time I saw it as well.

On subsequent viewings it's never really bothered me that much though. It's all about expectations I guess, and the way they'd built up the Shadow arc it looked like we were in for an explosive conclusion.

I still think it could have been done better, but it's not as bad as some of the more critical naysayers would have us believe.

Endgame, kind of makes up for it.

Indeed. The problem for me is that I've seen this episode half a dozen times now, and I get more frustrated with it each time around. Whilst I struggle to see how else the war could have been brought to a conclusion I would've at least liked to have seen the Shadows and the Vorlons pounding the crap out of each other for a couple of episodes before Sheridan and co stepped in. As it is they've been pussyfooting around each other right up to this point, and then they're sent away like a couple of naughty schoolkids (which immediately brings The Squire of Gothos to mind, for some reason  ), which leaves me feeling a bit cheated. I think maybe that's why I prefer the 3rd season, although granted there's some cracking stuff to come :)
