Dan Dispossessed - May 20, 2005 09:30 PM (GMT)
According to other people, Dreamwatch magazine are going to reveal that Billie Piper will leave the show at some time during the next series.

Oh dear - look at that - I'm really depressed :p
Can you tell I'm not a Rose fan? :)
jamiearmour - May 21, 2005 08:47 AM (GMT)
I'll believe it when there's an official announcement.
Magazines will print anything to sell copies

Well apparently this comes from Billie's own agent.
jamiearmour - May 21, 2005 04:22 PM (GMT)
Maybe, maybe not.
The show is doing wonders for her profile. I don't think she's going to ditch it, unless she has something else to go to afterwards (please God, not another attempt at music  )

I am scarily reminded of her comments that she would 'love to do a song in the series if she could'... :fear:

I don't think she'll go back to music. She's much happier acting then going through the rigours of a pop career.

I don't want to sound too grumpy, but the impact (and use) of a spoiler warning in the subject line is much diminished when the spoiler is then detailed directly afterwards. :(
Not a biggie for this one, since if she is leaving it will be all over the papers and totally unavoidable anyway, and I don't care that much about Dr Who, but in the future, y'know.
Dan Brown - May 22, 2005 05:43 PM (GMT)
If she does leave that is a real blow to the series imo. Rose has been excellent this year and has contributed alot to the series, especially in terms whereby the younger audience can identify with her.
She is up there with Sarah Jane Smith, as one of the best ever companions.
And gone within the next season, come on people we need some consistency here, I'm already worried that some children may not understand regeneration at this moment, but if we cut out there only link into the plotlines we may be stuck.
Did nobody think about getting anyone to sign a contract for 1-3 years? Or did the BBC think it would only run for one series.
And to anyone who dislikes Rose or Billie please tell me an actor out there who could do it better!
Krazy - May 22, 2005 05:57 PM (GMT)
If this is true i'm surprised that Billie would consider leaving because her role on Dr Who has done her career alot of good. ;)

I think the Mod (Phillip?) or an Admin should have edited the topic title tbh.

My bad - I just realised it could be construed as a spoiler (and I'm about to sort out a Season 2 board to put things like this in :))
Dan Brown - May 23, 2005 08:01 PM (GMT)
Its now on BBC News, and they are saying just that they don't know how many episodes she will be in, so it looks like she will probably be leaving in the first half of the series.
Bit of a problem isn't it first The Doctor changes, that will confuse some kids and now Billie's leaving - no consistency at all and as her family and friends and her life have been an integeral pert of the series we are in for trouble.
Its a bit of a snub of the new Doctor as well isn't it Billie leaving, doesn't she like David Tennant or does she think its good to get out when its still popular, cause she thinks he's not going to bring in the ratings.
Is it going to be:
Rose: I prefered the other bloke really, older but nicer - Bye Doctor
The Doctor: Well thats nice!
smellyphagor - May 23, 2005 11:44 PM (GMT)
It is the typical British actor thing- Yipee I'm in a hit- right, best thing to do is, leave it as soon as possible- that way I am certain to get a top hollywood career.
For the second time this series I'm hoping someone is doing panto in 2 year's time (or its modern equivilent, the lastest celebrity reality TV show.)
Stupid, stupid actors. :(
Trust No1 - May 24, 2005 08:20 AM (GMT)
I actually heard this on the monday morning news.
She said she wanted to focus on a hollywood career.

Too much, too soon, Sorry you can't go from failed pop star, to failed persons wife, to a TV show which probably have been a hit without her (although she is good in it) to a movie star its just improbable, many have tried and failed.
Best thing for her to do would be to stick around for one more series and then try to get on another few shows like serious drama's like Spooks or equivelent and then see if she can get into Hollywood.
Her resume isn't the best in the business by far.
I can understand why Christopher Eccelston left but Billie at the moment no way.
She'll never get a job as this popular and as this rewarding ever again.
Aud - May 25, 2005 09:26 AM (GMT)
Apparently she has an offer from Hollywood and has decided to leave the show to persue her acting career - dunno if anyone saw her on Parkinson a wee while ago but she kept going on about how she never really wanted to be a singer so I think we may just be spared on that account!
I also heard that the character of Mickey might be taking over her role!

Your joking right? The series may indeed now be over......Mickey!!!
Lets hope they leave the storyline open so Billie One day may return!!???

Sorry if this has already been posted and I missed it (I still am not used to these boards) but there was a big article in today's News of the World saying Billie Piper would be in the next series after all, and didn't know where the stuff about her leaving had come from. She wanted to hone her acting skills on Dr Who for another year and then try for the movies.
If true, the cynical part of me thinks that the "Billie Leaving" stories were a footballer style tactic to get a few more quids out of the BBC.

Are you sure its been well publicised that she is leaving and her agent has been in on it.
She will be appearing next season anyway we know that, but its just the amount of episodes that she will be in that worries me.
So is she leaving next year or not?

The article implied she would be in for the whole series.

Given the sources (i.e. tabloids), I think each has as much validity as the other :)
Call me cynical, but I bet they just want to get her on the front page as often as they can....
Krazy - May 30, 2005 10:33 PM (GMT)
There has been alot of talk that Billie Piper will be staying for the whole of the next series to help the new doctor settle in.
Dan Brown - May 31, 2005 04:05 PM (GMT)
Well it looks like we will just have to wait and see,
I would like her to stay at least 7 episodes in the next season to help the transition between Doctors.
jamiearmour - May 31, 2005 04:07 PM (GMT)
Of course, this will all depend on how her "Hollywood screen tests go." I'm sure if she's offered big movies, the Doc will be screwed. If she's offered hallmark movie of the week type things, I think we'll be OK. :lmao:

Well I seriously doubt that she will get anything decent in Hollywood yet, it takes a great actress to break into Holywood and I seriously believe she is overly confident in her acting abilities.
Acting in Doctor Who is one thing but in a serious Hollywood film that is completely different...
jamiearmour - May 31, 2005 07:20 PM (GMT)
Yeah, tell it to Katy Manning
How long did she spend dossing around hollywood as a drunken hanger on to the coat tails of Liza Minelli? :whistling: :lmao:
