According to a report on the BBC's website, BBC Films has a number of projects in the works, including the previously announced but thought dead-in-development Doctor Who theatrical film.  In an announcement at the Cannes Film Festival, BBC Films boss David Thompson confirmed that BBC Films is pushing ahead with its plans for a Doctor Who feature. The statement went on to say that those plans depend on how the new Doctor Who TV series is received in the US.  It seems nobody has told Mr. Thompson that it isn't running in the US yet.

The Doctor Who theatrical film has been in the works for some time and has had a variety of names attached to the project, from SF hack director Paul Anderson to actor Sylvester Stallone, who already has the destruction of one UK SF icon, Judge Dredd, under his belt.  At one point, a rumor even had the galaxy's coolest Jedi Knight, Samuel L. Jackson, playing the lead role

Can you imagine Stallone playing the Doctor

I'm actually imagining Samuel L Jackson in the role.

"Hey Dalek, exterminate this you Mo Fo!"

:lmao:

He wouldn't have "companions" either. They'd be his "bitches".

I'm starting to like this idea :lmao: :lmao:

Get tarantino to direct. Then the tardis could have "Pussy Wagon" written on the back.

He could cameo as well. "Hey Doctor, do you see a sign outside my house that says dead dalek storage?"

If this film takes place, it's got to be a 100% UK production. When they did the first movie the US script and direction was atrocious.

Well it is going to be the w**k of the newly reinvigorated BBC films, so I would assume it would be a Brit flick.

If it ever comes that is

A few problems would arise though.

Would it be canon?
would it feature the TV doctor?
If not would it involve another regeneration?

Well in my opinion the movie (if indeed it sporns into existance) needs to be just another current Doctor story. It can't have a regeneration and it can't directly tie-in with the series being made at the time. It would however mean that the series would have to be postponed for a year.

If you used a different Doctor, then you would end up confusing the kids and some people who might start asking who the Doctor is and if you make it part of the TV continuity, it will be breaking BBC guidelines massively.

So it would be Canon-ish and would have to feature the current Doctor at that time. No way can it feature a regeneration as it bogs the story down.
