Psycho Jack - May 14, 2005 12:08 AM (GMT)
4.18 - Mirage

So the whole thing with the Sophia/Yelena has got me all sorts of confused. I just don’t know what’s going on… and I don’t actually think I like it this time. I am amazed at her hair when it's flowing however.... :D

Good play on Jack’s hallucinations though. Excellent colour fades between his two overlapping realities (the warm Doc’s office and the cold warehouse) really hit the nail home when we found out what was actually happening.

The 1981 recreation . . . It was really one of the only times we’ve seen Jack Bristow with his guard down, at his bear.

There has always been a great parallel for me between this Jack and a certain other Jack who keeps having really bad days. Both are, essentially, cold-blooded killers who would do anything beyond the call of duty but at the same time deeply care about their loved ones. Bristow was ready to give up his w**k for his family. Bauer tried to give up but was sucked back into it. It was also certainly interesting to see Jack openly tell ‘Laura’ about his mission. I’m not too sure why we’re finding this out now, it wasn’t necessary as far as I can see.

Anyway – I digress, good episode overall.

One thing that is stupidly confusing however, if the Doc wasn’t real, then what the hell did Jack pull out of his hand . . . .

Oh yeah!!!! That hand pulling thing... ew. That is so weird. Hmm

These days the episodes all seem to be so similar that I cant distinguish one episode from another. I need certain words to trigger my memories of the episodes Ive seen in the last few weeks- that isnt good!

I liked the 1980's thing- seeing Syds reaction was :tear: yet :lmao: at the same time

My Ares counter is saying 2hr43mins till 4 x19

I plan to review whilst its still fresh in my memory :ph43r:

Another fantastic episode, but the bit where Syd was pretending to be Laura was a bit :x but LOL @ Vaughn saying about the snipers

Poor Jack :tear: But as Marshall said "Even his delusions are lucid" :lmao:

Ok so was I the only one who when Jack told the doctor to ' tell Syd and Laura I love them ' went ' Laura !!! Who ??' I thought he had another daughter stashed somewhere. I always just think of her as Irina.

I know the Jack - Syd as Laura 1981 scene was potentially a little wrong :whistling: but I did like it and thought it very moving ( LOL @ Vaughn telling Syd they could still get Weiss to do it. :) ). There's been a few of these type of scenes in Alias this year when you only get to know the charcaters true feeling when their playing another character or revealing it to someone other than the person they should, I'm thinking of Vaughn when he was playing a priest and there was another but I can't remember it. :ponder:

Oh and I was wrong about the doctor he was a good guy. It would appear. :)

It took me a minute or two to realise he meant Irina too

Ooh, really good point !

Are you perhaps thinking of the whole Santa Barbara engagement bit in Liberty Village, when Vaughn`s talking to Syd , I think it was set in the car showroom ? :ponder:

Good to see Weiss has more of a role than last week - I assume that Greg Grunberg was off shooting his pilot and that`s why he wasn`t available on Alias ? I got all scared when he went into the vault before Nadia , until they showed that Sophia had already left. :fear:

Really good ep., loved that little Marshall run  and Vaughn`s lines, and I thought that Victor Garber and Jennifer Garner were superb ( and I haven`t thought much of her acting lately, for me it`s had a `phoning it in `quality at times :ph43r: ).

Really enjoyed this one

The Jack and "Laura" scene really had the potential to be :x But it was very well done and quite moving :tear:

Jack in the warehouse was really quite shocking, I just didn't see that coming :o

Yeah I think that was one of the ones I was thinking about.

Plus the episode ( Episode 6 Nocturne I think ) where Syd has been infected with a drug and she starts to hallucinate and reveal all her insecurities about Vaughn and Jack that she otherwise wouldn't of voiced.

Btw I know Syd and Jack have a weird relationship but she had never been to his house before ! Never.

I can`t believe there are only 4 episodes left !

melian - August 2, 2005 11:54 AM (GMT)
I know! It only seems like the new season started 5 minutes ago :(

I quite liked this, even if it did plumb all depths of silliness with how quickly they recreated the 80s environment - pure Mission: Impossible
