Title: Angel S5 Dvd

John Brawn - May 13, 2005 09:22 PM (GMT)
Tomorrow I am going to pick up my Angel S5 DVD from my local depot. The anticipation. Though I will not be able to watch it straight away. I wonder how I will feel about it after reading so much about the general feeling out there. I have some feelings of trepidation as it marks the end point of the Buffyverse as we know it. sk

There are some very strong episodes and a handful of weak ones, some things didn't w**k but I enjoyed it a great deal nonetheless.

Happy viewing
:)

Don't expect too much (as I probably did) and you might enjoy it.

The first half is mostly weak, and the second half is mostly strong IMO.

the second half is a lot better imo

Given the general lack on enthusiasm I might even wait to see if C5 show it.

In a way this is depressing- a couple of years ago an entire series of Angel for £30 and I would have been there like a shot. Perhaps I am finally growing up.

Never ever say that. I actually used the phrase "after all we're responsible adults" at w**k a couple of weeks ago and was quite rightly abused to high heaven for it.

S5 is patchy but worth watching.

Many have slated it, but I loved it and wouldn’t change a thing - enjoyed it from start to finish. It's different, but not worse :)

Edit: the only exception being the second to last ep :ermm:

Good advice.

Having thought about it it's spending guilt- I've been a bit self indulgent recently with buying stuff.

I don't think it's growing up, it's more a question of not wasting money on crap :)

Woooaah there, that is very harsh. There are some very good episodes in Season 5 that deserve some credit.

Even if you didn't like the season as a whole I find it hard to believe that you rate episodes such as Your Welcome, Lineage, Shells, A hole in the world, Damage, Not Fade Away so badly.

No matter what it is like I'll probably end up getting it. Like John it is an end of the buffyverse thing.

Some of those were ok, some were rather poor. And some of them I don't even remember properly, which goes to show what an effect they had on me. None of those are in the same league as something like Reunion. And besides, if you've named the 6 best S5 episodes and none are truly outstanding, what are the other 16 like? It might seem harsh to you, but I stand by my description.

Fair enough,

Personally I'd take any of them over S4 but I wouldn't describe it as :shit: that belongs to reality shows and pap like Kev Trek ;)

I just don't see any difference between something like Harm's Way and reality TV. There's no way I'd ever watch either of them - they're both as crap as each other. And S5 had more than its fair share of that type of episode - not just bad compared to the best Angel has to offer, but just bad.

I like S5 so far, it's getting good. Happy Viewing
