Title: Alias Season 1
Anna - June 3, 2004 06:48 PM (GMT)
I've been watch Alias for a while now but never saw the very beginning. I'm really looking forward to it - It's burning a whole on top of the TV at the moment. So I'm off to watch the 1st episode in a minute - expect mass babble later
Flamingo - June 3, 2004 08:16 PM (GMT)
Have fun watching it :D Its nice to remember the old days of Alias, back then life seemed so simple!!!
willowroolz - June 3, 2004 08:34 PM (GMT)
I thought the first series was great fun. The first episode has got that classic Alias sequence with Syd in the red wig at the airport. Could be classed as an iconic moment.
Enjoy it!

Nothing to do with the red hair though, eh WR!!
willowroolz - June 4, 2004 09:56 AM (GMT)
That was a bit too red... ;)

Surely not? ;)
All this Alias talk is getting me excited about getting season 2. Only a few days to go. Yay!
And seeing as I've only seen S1, its double the normal excitement of getting a dvd, cos its all new to me. :)
goth willow fan - June 4, 2004 10:17 AM (GMT)
Me too with the Yay!
I know it's on it's way, hopefully get it on Saturday.
You'll like S2 just as much as S1 Michelle, :)
My only trouble is fitting it all in, as well as Alias I have Buffy, Angel and B5 DVDs that I haven't watched yet!
willowroolz - June 4, 2004 10:19 AM (GMT)
Season 2 was fantastic, Michelle. Even better than Season 1. There are some killer episodes in there :D

Hmph, just checked on Amazon, and it says its not dispatched yet. :(
I had hoped it'd be here tomorrow, like what has happened in the past with preordering stuff that is officially released the following Monday.
Where did you order yours from? I checked everywhere but Amazon seemed the cheapest.
Anyway, yeah, fitting it all in. That will be a problem. At least Firefly is out the way. Now I have Queer As Folk (that Max lent me) to get through, 5 seasons of Friends, <cough>Dawson's Creek S2<cough>, plus all the other things I'd like to try and get into - JofA, B5, etc etc. Not to mention all the PC/PS2 games I want to play/finish. And all that on top of being addicted to this message board.

At least it isn't just me then  I haven't played any games since joining this board and my viewing is suffering. All those Alien films to watch, plus another 10 Dracula/Frankenstein/Wolfman movies, plus this Farscape season 1 run through, Buffy season 5, NYPD season 2. And then Alias season 3 is out in September :o
It's a hard life :P

Is it? Is that Region 1, though? Not that I can't play R1, I just prefer getting R2s.

I think I'm gonna end up having to watch more dvds on the pc, and then I can just flick back to the message board every so often.

Yeah, the season 3 set is region 1. But I got season 2 on region 1, too. It was the only way I could catch up! :)

<grumble>
On amazon, I've got:
Dispatch estimate: Jun 9, 2004
Delivery estimate: Jun 10, 2004 - Jun 11, 2004 :(
Still, with amazon, its a whole £1.54 cheaper (even with postage), and I get an exclusive postcard set too. Woo! ;)
Oh well, I guess there's no real hurry for it. Its not like I'll have time to watch it for a while.
goth willow fan - June 4, 2004 10:53 AM (GMT)
Also, price doesn't really bother me that much (unless the difference is massive), I go more by reliability, quickness of delivery etc. (I've ordered stuff from DVD in the middle of the night and it's arrived 2 days later!)

I was tempted by that. Then I was tempted to download S2 and S3, but in the end I decided to hang on for the R2 dvd, as something to look forward to. :)
And I'm completely spoiler free. Yay! :D

Amazon have always been pretty good with me, well, up until the last time, when I gordered S4 Angel. Still, I dunno whether that was mainly Amazon or Royal Mail at fault, cos it was said it was dispatched on the Monday, yet I didn't get it til Saturday.
Didn't you have a long delay with dvd.co.uk for Angel S4, or was that someone else?

And when I say "was it someone else", I mean was it another company? Cos I know it was you who was waiting ages for the delivery. :)
goth willow fan - June 4, 2004 11:00 AM (GMT)
YEp that was me, although that was completely down to a strike at a sorting office and had nothing to do with DVD.
willowroolz - June 4, 2004 11:05 AM (GMT)
I've never had a problem with Amazon. ROTK turned up last Tuesday, the day of release. Sometimes it takes a couple of days, but it's not like I'm in a rush for most of this stuff :D
Play, now they're another matter. I've had so much stuff not turn up after they've sent it out. It's not their fault (bloody post office!) but it's interesting that they're the only company I've used that it's ever happened with <_<

Yeah, I'm more willing to blame the post office, cos I know how crappy they are at the mo. I keep on getting this other house's mail all the time. Its the same house number as mine, but its for this other street thats round the corner from me. Even the postcode is totally different (obviously apart from the first 3 characters).
Stupid posties! It makes me wonder how much of my mail is going missing....

I used to use Play, but so much of their stuff was arriving late that I don't anymore.
willowroolz - June 4, 2004 11:14 AM (GMT)
The worst one from Play was Angel season 3. They sent it out, it didn't turn up. You have to wait 2 weeks before querying it. I waited, I queried. They sent another one. Two weeks later I called them, I queried. They sent another one. Eventually I got it six weeks after release. I stopped using them at that point <_<
The most bizarre one was when they sent me one by recorded delivery. The post office mail tracking site said it had been delivered but I hand't got it. I went to the sorting office and they showed me the sheet with signatures on - some one had scribbled their signature across three different parcels. It was illegible and they hadn't printed their name. I think some postman somewhere has a nice little dvd collection at my expense

LOL, that is bad. Not surprising you stopped using them.

How did you get it four days before its released???????? Ive preordered mine from Amazon but coz im linking it with Infiltration, which was released this month, they arent dispatching it till the 19th! Damn them!!
Anna - June 5, 2004 06:52 PM (GMT)
OK - I've seen the first disc and am loving it. It's fun to see them all look so young. Jack is great. I love his character but Marshall still has me in fits. Can't wait to see the next disc
goth willow fan - June 5, 2004 06:57 PM (GMT)
I hate Marshall with a fiery passion!
Flamingo - June 5, 2004 07:15 PM (GMT)
How can you hate Marshall? He's so sweet! I really miss the old Alias, everyone seemed more sane and it was more realistic.

I like Alias - have them all on disk - not good enough to be DVD worthy imo.
Flamingo - June 5, 2004 07:36 PM (GMT)
Im just getting fed up with some of the storylines- I wont mention which ones as I dont want to spoil it for anyone who hasnt seen past s1, but Im sure you can make a pretty good guess.
I love my S1 DVD's, The gag roll rocks. And have you seen the audio commentary on the last epi? It has all the cast and some funny nicknames thrown in for good measure.
Michelle - June 6, 2004 03:54 PM (GMT)
Yay, my Alias S2 has finally been dispatched! So as long as Royal Mail don't mess up again, I'll hopefully get it tomorrow or Tuesday.

I got a R1 copy of the season 1 boxset last year when we were in Gib. Having watched them I wsn't that bothered. Sold it on eBay, and the other half went nuts. Apparently she loves it
Hence, we've now got S1 again, a R2 copy this time around, and luckily for less than the price I sold the R1 version for on eBay :) Nice Amazon :)
Since then she's had me d/l Seasons 2 and 3 as well
I'll get through them eventually, but for now, too many shows, not enough time :(
