Title: Dvd's Early

I was walking down my high street today and low and behold what did I see on the side of a telephone box, a police box thats what with Rose and The Doctors heads peeking out and I thought corr the BBC are really campaigning Doctor Who but alas no it was for the DVDs which is quite clever to release the DVDs while the shows still running to increase advertisement.

But isn't it a bit soon for the DVDs! And anyway they seem to be a big waste of money with just the episodes.

I'll wait for the really cool TARDIS boxset, but £70???!!!!

I thought people were being ripped off with the Battlestar Galactica set with 13 eps for £50 but this is riduculous!

Well I hope the money goes back into the show or does BBC WORLD just take the profits thats what I heard.

Two companies, the BBC and BBC World and all profits go to BBC World and BBC gets nothing to pour back into making shows is this right?

If the money goes back into the series I would pay out but if most of it gets put in some shareholders pockets I might wait for a sale!

While the vanilla releases seem a bit unnecessary, remember that we're looking at this as fans - a £10-£15 pound DVD is perfect as something for the little kids who've just got into the series to spend their pocket money on :)

And as for the big box set, Play currently have it goting for a more respectable £50 - although as we get closer to the date I'd expect a pricing war between the e-tailers to reduce it further :)

Sounds like the price may get even better! Any ideas on any extras will there be more than the Doctor Who Confidentials?

You're assuming that Confidential will be on the DVD :)

Which it won't - mainly because the music used in them is unclearable/would cost too much to clear on DVD. However, elements from them might well be used to create new DVD-exclusive featurettes.

There will also be commentaries, however it's not known just how many - rumours would suggest that there won't be a commetnary for every episode, so probably just for the big ones then.

Also I'm not sure whether there will be any deleted scenes; from what Russell T Davies said in DWM they've had hardly anything to cut out (although there is apparently a sofa scene excised from Rose which will not be put on - there's not been a reason given why, but comments elsewhere would suggest it's goingto be one of those hush-hush things).

A sofa scene????

The mind boggles

So its not looking too good on the extra front then, so how can they back up a £70 price?

I really do hope that Eccelston and Piper do a commentary.
