Title: 7 - The Long Game

Phillip Culley - May 7, 2005 09:31 PM (GMT)
Well, aside from Simon Pegg (who was fantastic), and the final scene, I found this one to be quite dull - without a doubt the poorest this season has had so far.

What was nice was to see Adric-a-like Adam try and do the age-old 'call back in time and tell yourself the lottery numbers' routine, get caught out, and also receive a bollocking from the Doctor!

Hovis - May 7, 2005 10:19 PM (GMT)
It probably was the worst one so far, but I still enjoyed it immensely. I can't say I liked Adam very much, so I'm not sorry we'll be seeing the last of him, for a while at least. I did smile at his reaction at the beginning, when the enormity of what had happened to him caused him to faint. Pretty sure that would have been me too!

On the whole though, it was fun. I've only ever come across Simon Pegg on Spaced and Shaun of the Dead and both his characters were pretty much the same, so it was great to see him playing a different role, and I actually thought he was quite menacing in a Doctor Who villain sort of way. (I hope that makes sense!)

Less than seven days until the next episode, but it's sad that we're over half way through the season now. :(

I didn't really get into this one either. It was ok, but now't special.

It had it's moments, but was pretty forgettable.

Bakhesh - May 8, 2005 10:42 AM (GMT)
I suppose it was pretty average. I did like the monster in it (can't remember the name), although it was dealt with a little too easily.

Also liked Adam's head plug thing, and I thought Simon Pegg was good.

and I thought Simon Pegg was good.

When it was all going pear-shaped at the end, I loved his excuse;

"It's an employee....with an IDEA."

By the way. that Suki woman looked really familiar. Anyone know what shes been in before?

I thought that it was OK. The theme of mass-journalism being used to control a civilisation (i.e. similar to 1984 by George Orwell) was OK, but unfortunately not explored deeply enough to make a good plot.

It didn't really need Adam (bearing in mind that his inclusion to the TARDIS team was a quick 2min scene at the end of 'Dalek') and nor did it need "Max" either because 'The Editor' could have been the news dictator instead.

Oh and the moment where Suki grabbed at the Editors leg at the end was quite revealing if you catch my drift ;)

I felt like that too - been racking the old brains trying to think where I have seen her before

I didn't recognise her, but I did think she looked a bit like a younger Susan Tully (Michelle Fowler from Eastenders).

I enjoyed this one. Not as much as the others in the series so far, but it was still good. I will admit though, that was majorly down to Simon Pegg  and the fate of "poor wee" Adam :lmao: :lmao: yesterday, someone in the street told me that time flew away just like that (and snapped her fingers) I sniggered and she thought I was mad. Obviously she was watching Celebrity wrestling on Saturday <_< Yes, I think I found the viewer. I should have put her out of her misery

It looked good, but I dozed through most of it. Not because of the show, but because of too much red wine :kate:

Before Doctor Who she had only been in one episode of "Midsommer Murders" back in 2002. According to IMDB

I should never have looked on there though. Too many spoilers :fear: :fear: :ph43r:

Yep, I suffered the same fate. <_< Thankfully I'm not all that fussed.

I loved Simon Pegg in this episode, very creepy. His eyes were very creepy when combined with the too white hair and goatee.

DanielFullard - June 2, 2005 12:02 PM (GMT)
I had given every episode so far 5/5 for this series......apart from AOL which got a 4/5

This however was a poor poor piece of mid--season Who action. Cramped, Pointless and very unentertaining. I am so gald its the only the one episode thats been this weak

3/5

Cullsoft - June 4, 2005 04:26 PM (GMT)
Wasn't as bad as Phillip made it out to me to be, but still not a great one. So pretty much the same opinion as all round here then. :)

As for Pegg... well, I think he was able to do good with the role, though IMO the role didn't really do good for him. Though maybe I'm too used to seeing him do stuff like Spaced or Bill Bailey sketches. :)
