Title: 1x20 - War Zone

"Angel tracks down a nerdy millionaire's blackmailer, but gets caught in the middle of a gang war between street kids and vampires and meets the leader of the vampire hunters, Charles
Gunn. Although Gunn is suspicious of Angel, he soon realizes Angel may be a valuable ally in the cleaning up of the City of Angels."

a fantastic introduction of charles gunn

Gunn: You were expecting somebody else?

the vamp gang composed a all kind of past decade "loser"

the death of gunn's sister and her return and their talk and then charles killing her

the introduction of david nabbit :lmao: (he never reappeared after season two :( )

the big trap that angel fall in and the run through it to end up with a metal nail in the hand (what were they expecting to kill then? )

Cordelia: You know, there's nothing like riding in a convertible with the top down to make you see the sun and sand. Mmmm. Smell that salt air.
Wesley: That's not salt.
Cordelia: I don't think it's air, either.

I must admit that War Zone never did very much for me but then I never liked Gunn very much either. Somehow his character never really went anywhere and he always felt like a token piece of the puzzle forced into the mix.

As prophecy girl comments there are some nice touches so a 5/10 is deserved. sk

Not brilliant, but a decent enough intro to Gunn. The best scenes were those between Gunn and his vamped sister, and when Angel is trying to get out of the meat locker, only for Cordy to remind him he could have used his cellphone.

Angel: Here's the deal. You can go.
Knox: What?
Angel: If you go now, and I never see any of you again, you get to live.
Knox: Are you high?
Angel: L.A.'s my territory. You want to stay out of it for the rest of your eternal lives. These kids, my town -- off limits from now on. Vamp: Who the Hell are you? You know who you're talkin' to, you fool?
Angel: Name's Angelus. (dusts Knox) I wasn't actually talkin' to you.

Although I like Gunn in later seasons, he didn't appeal to me early on. Not even during S2. As such, I don't really find this episode that appealing.

I agree. He does weigh down the episode with a whole doninace complex. It's one of those epiosodes that tends to drag on a bit. Plus Alonna was so flimsy a character it didn't really matter whether she lived or died. Sorry Gunn.. his character had to get introduced somehow, and the ep has some nice ideas, but...

and WHY did Angel call himself Angelus???

6/10

Vampire Leader: Who the hell are you, you know who your talking to fool?
Angel: Name's Angelus, (dusts vamp) and I wasn't actually talking to you?

I prefer the introduction of David Nabbit to be honest, a very funny start to the episode.

Don't much care for Gunn or his gang. There are a few funny lines and Angel locked in the meat locker bashing his way through when he had his mobile with him is always quite funny.

I'm thinking he said Angelus as they would know him by reputation and would show more respect or terror, either would w**k :)

when angelus went to the bar after having escaped wes and co in season four, everybody seemed to be happy seeing him (no one really argued his decisions apart maybe one or two people)
