Title: 1x19 - Sanctuary
LoobiLou - May 2, 2005 09:30 AM (GMT)
"Buffy comes to Los Angeles seeking vengeance under the guise of protecting Angel from Faith's violent nature, but Buffy is shocked and hurt to discover her former love siding with her nemesis as he attempts to shelter her.
Meanwhile, Wesley is faced with a crisis of loyalties when the Watcher's Council offers a chance at reinstatement if he gives up Faith."

buffy at her worse (due to jealousy)
faith and angel on the road of recovery ... a long journey
wesley and the council top team
the fight on the roof
buffy: you hit me!
angel: not going all schoolyard on you but you hit me first
the usuall kate attitude :ermm:
buffy vs angel and their argue they will end up in the yoko factor
Wesley: I don't know how much my opinion counts for, but I think you did the right thing.
Angel: Yelling at Buffy?
Wesley: No. The other thing.
Angel: I didn't do it. Faith did.
Wesley: Perhaps she's strong enough to make it. Peace is not an easy thing to find.
Angel: She has a chance.

Some good Angel and Faith bonding. But the episode is spoilt by Buffy and her jealousy  Love it when Angel hits her  it's deserved.
prophecy girl - May 2, 2005 05:54 PM (GMT)
and love the lee/lyndsay/lylah arguing over the failure of faith :lmao:
Lee: Well?
Lilah: Strike two.
Lee: This is getting ridiculous. The first assassin kills the second assassin -- sent to kill the first assassin, who didn't assassinate anyone until we hired the second assassin to assassinate her.
Buffy: Giles heard that...that she tried to kill you.
Angel: That's true.
Buffy: So you decided to punish her with a severe cuddling.
Faith: Buffy. I'm so--
Buffy: You apologize to me, I will beat you to death

I am probably not joining in the spirit of this by not actually rwatching the episodes but never mind.
I did not quite enjoy this one as much as Five by Five but it is still something special. The guns and helicopter aspect somehow sits a little uneasily in the whole episode but they manage to pull it off.

I agree prophecy girl. Absolutely first rate.

Faith: So, how does this w**k? Angel: There's no real simple answer to that. I won't lie to you and tell you it'll be easy. Because it won't be. Just because you've decided to change doesn't mean the world's ready for you to. Truth is, no matter how much you suffer, no matter how many good deeds you do to try to make up for the past, you may never balance out the cosmic scale. The only thing I can promise you is that you'll probably be haunted, and maybe for the rest of your life. Faith: (indicating microwave) So, how does this w**k?

Great ep, but then I do enjoy the crossovers. Buffy's hair- big no no, but that's of little importance in such an entertaining episode. Eliza's acting is first rate and I really enjoyed the Angel/Faith dynamic.
8/10

I think this episode is a classic, I love big crossover events!

Great follow-up ep to 5 by 5.
Some top scenes between Angel & Wes, and Angel & Buffy.

Angel was rather hard on Buffy this ep. It was a brilliant scene where he puts her down for coming into "his town". She was somewhat justisfied for her harsh view on Faith though imo, Faith had just run riot around Sunnydale in her own body.
And very bad hair, SMG. :(

cordie reaction is a good one too

Cordelia: I need you to sign these. Angel: You understand why we have to help Faith, don't you? Cordelia: Totally. And here. Angel: We can't just arbitrarily decide whose soul is worth saving and whose isn't. Cordelia: Oh, I know. And this one. Thanks! Angel: Those were all made out to you. Cordelia: Yeah! Angel: Paid vacation. Cordelia: Like I'm gonna stick around here while a psycho case is roaming loose downstairs with 3 tons of medieval weaponry? Not! Oh, and I'm thinking -- sugar high? Maybe not a good idea.

:o Why?

because buffy acted like a b.tch and was a killing mood and was refusing to see that faith was ready to make amend.

Exactly my thoughts :)

wesley was trusting angel decision (even after what faith did to him) but buffy maybe spent too much time away from angel (she should know he will never stop trying to help and should remember she is the one who first ask him to help faith .... consequences)

buffy made some weird choices in season four which changed her.
prophecy girl - May 8, 2005 08:13 PM (GMT)
yeah her first bad choice being parker ... the second being .... riley ...(or trusting the initiative in general ... until maggie tried to kill her)

I agree that the main problem with this episode was Buffy. Yet again, Angel presents her as whiny, clingy and unreasonable, and she isn't like that all the time in her own show. Their arguement was a huge difference to their last crossover ep though. Clearly, they are nowhere close to reconciliation at this point.
Otherwise, the episode was top rate. I liked that, afterall, Faith turns herself in, seeking atonement on her own (like Angel and Doyle). It's a shame to see her go after what her character brings to the season, but at the same time, it's a wonderful closure to her Rogue Slayer persona. And I suppose, a special mention for Wesley (grumble) who did excel himself in his blatant disregard for the watcher's council . <_<
8.5/10
Buffy: You hit me!
Angel: Not to go all schoolyard on you, but you hit me first.

i love this episode. buffy is really irratating-"of course its my business" and "so you're going to let faith win again" grrr.
really like faith in this episode. not too keen on the watcher people.
love the arguement at the end and faith turning herself in.
