| Earth 2 - The Rumors Were True! Posted by David Lambert 4/27/2005 In mid-February we passed along rumors that Earth 2 was coming to DVD later this year. Today Universal has confirmed those rumors with a formal announcement of a July 19th launch for Earth 2 - The Complete Series! Look for all 21 hour-long episodes (including the double-length pilot) of the single-season NBC series about the journey of Devon Adair (Debrah Farentino) and her band of non-conformists (including Antonio Sabato Jr. and Rebecca Gayheart), who leave their artificial environment in space stations orbiting a dead Earth, and travel to a distant planet, where they begin a new life for themselves. 17 hours of futuristic adventure comes on 3 double-sided DVDs, which will sell for $49.98 SRP. English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo, subtitles in English and Spanish, and video in 1.33:1 full frame. Cover art hasn't made it out yet, but stay tuned and we'll bring that when it's ready. |

| We brought you a pair of news stories on April 27th and April 28th about the July 19th release of Earth 2 - The Complete Series. Now the final information has trickled out from Universal about this release: the extras you can expect on this compilation. Deleted and Extended Scenes Outtakes Bonus Episode: Cleopatra 2525 "Quest for Firepower" Bonus Episode: Sliders "Rules of the Game" Sliders - Season 3 and Cleopatra 2525 - The Complete Series are arriving on DVD the same day as Earth 2, and the studio is placing bonus episodes of at least one of the others onto each of these sets. The cross-promotion effort is obvious here, and getting mixed reactions from fans. Some appreciate the ability to check out another series at no extra cost, others are irritated at the obvious marketing effort at what they feel is the use of space which could otherwise go toward more extras for the show they paid to get on DVD. In my opinion, the studio is providing all the extras for the primary feature that they're willing or able to, and so these bonus episodes aren't taking anything away from the fan experience. So, nothing's lost in all likelihood. |

Yay to the outtakes, what do you want to bet the waterfight will be among them :lol: and yay to deleted scenes but you are right a few commentaries would have been fantastic. I suppose its hard so far down the line now for people to remember in great detail :( :thumbsup: :thumbsup: So glad its finally going to be out there though :thumbsup: |
