Title: The New Doctor Possible Spoiler?
Description: you have been warned

buffy_fan1 - April 29, 2005 08:28 PM (GMT)
I was watching Richard & Judy this afternoon by chance Honest! There was an interview with Billie Piper and she said that David Tennant (the star of Casanova) is to be the new Doctor to replace Christopher Eccleston in the next series

I'm not very clue up on Doctor Who so if this is old news sorry  but I thought I should put I spoiler warning just in case I spoil it for anyone? but the fact the Billie was talking about means I don't think it's much of a secret

prophecy girl - April 29, 2005 08:37 PM (GMT)
not really a spoiler ;)

Dan Dispossessed - April 29, 2005 10:56 PM (GMT)
The BBC announced that he was to be the tenth Doctor a few weeks ago. The real spoiler is that he was actually awarded the role in January ;)

Well, that just means that they were thinking ahead then. They knew Chris wasn't going to be hanging around beyond the one season, so they cast the net out early. RTD must have really liked David's audition for Casanova

What happened in truth is that Chris announced his intention to leave the show in January giving the team enough time to write him out at the end of the series (possibly!).

It was then that David was approached and later cast to replace Chris.

Hmmmm, not according to Chris. He says that he only signed a one season contract and that he agreed with RTD, right at the begining, that he would only do one year.

Ah I see. I got it slightly confused. There are so many false "thoeries" about

Yeah :lmao: "theories" <_< The worst thing to come from the internet, ever. (well almost)

Chris came clean after half of the story was leaked by the halfwit in the bbc press room. The papers picked it up and all of a sudden Chris is the most hated man in Who-dom.

Then the truth came out and everyone was like, "oh? OK then, we'll let you off with it this once" :whistling: :lmao:

... and whilst there are so many crazed people on Outpost Gallifrey, there are so many silly conspiracy theories. They're even moaning that Chris isn't built like a gym instructor now

So they've started fantasizing about Ross Kemp taking over the role then? :fear: :fear:

Good god no! :fear:

He's been well and truly typecast in Eastenders and should stay there 'till he bitter end (when it gets cancelled in a year's time :whistling:)

Of course 'Celebrity Wrestling' will also get cancelled and I hope it does so in one week's time just to prove to ITV that reality TV is rubbish and no-one wants to watch it anymore

No, there is a niche that the reality show hasn't plundered yet, and it's one that I wouldn't mind seeing. Z list celeb snuff movies. We get to watch z listers get killed off, one by one. In gory but hilarious ways.

No more Z listers, no more crap z list reality shows, it's genius. I've emailed the idea to endemol, I hope they reply and greenlight it.

Did they not listen to my suggestion of Anthony Head for the new doctor? :p

I saw David Tennant in Cassanova and didn't think he was right for the role, not sure about him for the new doctor either, but i will see what he is like in Harry Potter before i condemn him to the bad actor pile.

Anthony Head would have been a good suggestion if they had been doing old Doctor Who. They need someone with a distinct accent and a particular acting style to cut it for the new Doctor Who (oh; and w**king for Russell T. Davies beforehand helps ;)).

David Tennant was really good as Casanova and in 'The Quatermass Experiment', I think that he will play the part well.

jamiearmour - May 19, 2005 03:21 PM (GMT)
Agreed Dan. Mr Tenant wasn't even on my top ten list of possibilities when it was revealed they'd need a new doc for season 2. But Then I caught an episode of Casanova, Funny, Irreverant, What a first line!!! LOL

Even after I saw it, I wasn't sure. Then along came quatermass.

He can do weird. He can do funny. He can even do technobabble. As I've said with every actor to play the Doctor in my lifetime.

Give the guy a chance.

Don't judge him until you see what he can do in the role.

Plus, he's been very good in all the Big Finish stuff I've heard him in so far...

Depending on what one has heard, he wasn't as unlikely as Eccleston (sadly the whole 'who's going to be the Tenth Doctor' mystery was practically non-existant, as it seemed that from day one that Tennent was mooted as the first choice - I miss the days when everyone thought Bill Nighy was going to be the Ninth Doctor), but although I never saw Casanova (and most of Quatermass - enough to have no recollection of who he was) I've got high hopes :)
