An unjoined trill kidnaps Jadzia and removes the Dax symbiont to implant into himself.

I always find this one a bit boring, particularly after the last 3 eps.
Not a particularly enjoyable storyline pretty much sums it up for me.

It's ok. Nice to find out a bit more about the Trill, but it's not the most convincing of storylines is it?
Cool to see Tim Russ cropping up. Brief appearences in TNG and now DS9, and off course as Tuvol in Voyager.

I really like this episode. It's one I remember best from my initial viewings but, at the time, I didn't realise what a get together of Cult TV actors it is. Okay, I've always had a hard - er - soft spot for Megan Gallagher ( :naughty: ), but to see Tim Russ and particularly John "Lionel Luthor" Glover turn up here before I was aware of them was good fun
I guess the one complaint I could level at this episode is that it concerns another evacuation so soon after the previous one. Also, Quark is once again allowed to get away with a quite appalling crime. Even though he helps out in the end it seems too little too late. I liked what Kira had to say to him, though, and I want to see that play out (can't really remember whether it did or not   ).
I really like the way this deals with how taking on the symbiont changes the individual's character, and the effect it has on those around them, particularly Mareel here, and I like the way Sisko plays one off the other.
Big thumbs up for the way Kira gets her ass handed to her, and also for the way Bashir and Quark deal with the other Klingon
Takes a bit of a stretch to imagine that the station would run on quite such a skeleton crew under the circumstances, but otherwise a very good episode

Can't believe you liked this one as much as you did :o
Sure there's some good bits, Quark mainly  , but the story just seems a bit  for me.

Funny thing is I don't remember liking it so much originally, but I thoroughly enjoyed it last night. Can't see anything particularly wrong with it, tbh

I guess there's not anything particularly wrong with it but it just doesn't seem that interesting. It's highly unlikely Dax would die and a bit obvious that they'd end up winning

But you could substitute the names and say that about a great deal of stories on any series
I was more interested in the affect it had on the characters: how Jadzia reacted without the symbiont (her fear was quite palpable, I felt, and I would've liked to have seen more of that); how Julian showed he genuinely cared about more than getting in her pants; how Sisko used his relationship with Dax to play Mareel and Verad off each other etc; how Mareel gradually saw that she had been used; Kira's reaction to Quark's treachery etc :)

I mentioned that to Vic when we watched it. Given what happened in the previous episode wouldn't it have been better taking place at the backend of that particular evacuation rather than contriving another one?
I like this one too. Not brilliant, but it's entertaining enough, and any episode where John Glover and Megan Gallagher turn up is going to be good, and then we get Tim Russ as well

I wonder if this episode was supposed to come later in the season, however someone pointed out the fact that it worked much better following on from 'The Siege' (as DS9 was abandoned both times), however they forgot/didn't have time to remove the establishing material?
