Title: Season 2 Ingram Tx
Description: Episode 15

laughitupfuzzball - April 20, 2005 02:09 PM (GMT)

:x Ok I found this one particularly creepy mainly the insane hillfolk, I was shouting at Ben to get the hell out of there.

The snakes have turned on Ruthie, Lodtz or something else. A new card for the Usher has turned up in the Tarot deck that are coming back to haunt Sophie.

Justin is becoming more demonic, I keep expecting him to kill people but he has a way o f making people suffer especially Norman.

I think Dolan's days maybe numbered when he outgrows his usefullness to Justin
:fear:

Disturbing

melian - April 30, 2005 11:07 AM (GMT)
Sophie wakes up smelling smoke and goes to Ben for help. Ruthie wakes to see a vision of Lodz standing by her bed. Nice ;)

Sophie seems to be leaning more and more on Ben these last couple of episodes. She seems to trust him. She asks him to burn her cards, she won’t need them as she can’t read them without her mother, and she doesn’t ever want to see them again anyway. Ben does so but catches sight of one card that shows a picture of a man with a tree tattoo (anyone catch what the card said on it?). He shows it to Sophie but she says she has never seen it before.

Ben goes off to follow some clue given him by the mad man from last episode. On the way he asks some old guy for directions to the ‘Crones’ house. The old man helps him, and then tries to sell him the retarded girl he has with him for sex :x Ben blows a gasket and grabs the guy as if to hit him, but then stops and just looks at him for a long moment before releasing him. The guy then starts babbling about how sorry he is, and that he’ll never do it again. The man seems.....strange. Like he thinks Ben is, I don’t know, Someone Who Must Be Obeyed. Curiouser and curiouser

Next thing you know, Ben has reached this weird rubbish dump of a place and is being chased by half glimpsed man-ape-things that turn out to be hillbillies (not sure if that is a improvement or not). That whole thing was really scary, the tension being built slowly as Ben searches the dump and the sun starts to go down, finishing with the moonlit chase through the woods, as Ben is being pursued by the misty figures that shout and holler. Finally he is run down, and the next time we see our Ben he is naked, and beaten and hung upside down from a tree. Then they decide to bury him alive. Nice people.

Meanwhile, back at the Carnivale it seems Ruthies snakes don't seem like the new and improved her. They show their displeasure by dying, killing each other, or trying to kill her! And Sophie finds that her cards have turned up in her trailer. Unburnt.

Yuck! Justin ‘seducing’ Celeste in front of the old man. He seems to delight in torturing him, and is pretty good at finding different and more imaginative ways each episode.

Another gratuitous butt shot this week, but its Bens so that’s ok  I was wondering how Ben was going to get out of the whole ‘buried alive’ predicament, but it seems like his capturers recognised the initials H.S. and decide that our Ben is the one they have been waiting for. WTF?

Lodz ghost appears again to Ruthie, and leads her to a sleeping Sophie. She covers her over and leaves just seconds before the radio retunes itself to one of Justin’s broadcasts. Sophie’s eyes open. Is Lodz trying to help by warning Ruthie of danger to Sophie? Will Sophie fall under Justin’s spell? Will she betray Ben? Is that why Apollonia tried to kill her? :o

 I'll probably have a marathon session now I've seen it all.

I was aiming at one a night, I only slipped once or twice, to try to spread it out

melian - April 30, 2005 11:52 AM (GMT)
I've got 6 more to go. Maybe tomorrow

I have to fit in a few episodes of The Shield, and maybe try to finish off the Farscape rewatch too

laughitupfuzzball - April 30, 2005 11:54 AM (GMT)
 Yes, must get back to Farscape, I keep watching random eps.

I'll try to watch some later.

:D

I did watch the last 2 eps of Carnivale back to back, kinda had to be done

melian - April 30, 2005 12:01 PM (GMT)
I think I may go and watch a couple of episodes now myself

See ya!

PS. It's nice to be able to talk to someone about all this isn't it, even if it is to just reassure each other that the other doesn't have a clue either

laughitupfuzzball - April 30, 2005 12:05 PM (GMT)
 Its great, thanks Karen. I'm not alone in the wilderness

Spot on... I'm watching the show wondering where things are heading, and quite honestly I have no idea. And I'm loving it because of that. Justin's antics were really creepy in this episode, and those hillbillies... freaky or what! I couldn't help but think of Cletus the Slackjawed Yokel from the Simpsons!

But the radio retuning itself into Justin's broadcast was spooky... we almost had the first non-dream connection between Justin and Ben before Samson got one of the crew to turn his radio off.

It's wishing my life away, I know, but roll on next Sunday.

Andrew :yahoo:

There comes a point about 6 or 7 episodes in where you think you have a clear idea as to where season 2's going to end. It not only gets there much sooner than I anticipated but then goes on and surpassed all my expectations with ease.

All's I'll say about where and how the season ends is that it's something you've probably wanted to see since the first episode. At least it was for me.

Absolutely fantastic. I've said it before but this is the only show that I've ever considered coming close to B5's best episodes. The season 2 finale gives anything a run for it's money.

Knowing what we know about your views on B5 James, that is high praise indeed! I'm looking foreward to the later episodes even more enthusisatically now.

This is one of the few shows I've watched where I feel confident that I'm not going to be disappointed. Somehow, it just exudes class and quality and I can't put my finger on anything about the show I don't like. (Maybe we don't see enough of Clea duVall, but that's my problem, not really related to the quality of the show!)

I know it's expensive (and I noted the thread elsewhere... is it the Battlestar Galactica board), but I will be buying the dvds as I know it's a show I'll be watching again and again. I can see myself taking a weekend out to watch every episode one after another at some point.

 I absolutely agree Andrew, I am rewatching season 1 as well as season 2 and I am still really excited about watching them.

They are pure quality and it is a show that will definitely stand the test of time. You won't be disappointed the rest of the season is wonderful.

The only sadness lies when it ends :tear:

I'm hoping to do a season 2 rewatch soon (but Firefly keeps getting in the way  ) and I really need to get my hands on Season 1 ;)

LOL! I wasn't hinting at you, honest

What I meant was that I was planning on getting round to either buying the DVD, or persuading my brother to send them to me if he still has them on his hard drive ;)

It seems very slow to me atm, like the start of s1. Interesting enough but I hope it picks up soon.

Will Justin sacrifice his sister? :ponder:

I thought that to start with. The first few eps I found to be a tad dull tbh, but come episode 4 and/or 5, it really picks up, iirc. :)

Crichton Kicks - September 27, 2005 05:10 PM (GMT)
Season 2 starts off quite slow, but picks up dramatically over the back half of the season, even moreso than Season 1.

It is actually one of the things that I enjoy about the show, that it takes its time over things and has huge amounts of detail. Having said that it does kind of snowball as it continues

In fact Andrew, think B5 Season 4 and you get some kind of idea about the pace over the backend of this season ;)
