Title: 4x13 Recruit
willowroolz - April 18, 2005 09:09 PM (GMT)
Clark is approached by Met U for recruitment and meets Geoff, a former Smallville resident, who is on the verge of making it to the NFL big time. Meanwhile, Lois has an altercation with a fellow student that results in him being paralysed.

Fairly standard Smallville romp, enlivened by the character progression that was going on around the periphery. Seen the "meteor powers being used for no good" scenario so many times now it was all fairly predictable, not bad but not great.
I really enjoyed the new footing for Chloe and Clark's relationship, though, and I kind of like the way she's handling it, although I was willing her to tell him that she knows at the end
The developments between Lex and Lana were interesting too, without telling us all that much. I knew that Jason Teague couldn't be as much of a goodie-two-shoes as he was making out to be :shifty:
Loved Lois's manipulation of Clark to get an invitation to stay with the Kent's too

I've missed a few eps this season, I kinda guessed she knows but how did she find out? Or did she figure something out?
I don't think I was playing close enough attention at the begining, why was Lois in her PJ's in the bar?
Cardelia - April 18, 2005 11:28 PM (GMT)
Alicia showed Chloe in the ep where Alicia died. Chloe hasn't said anything (yet) but keeps on dropping hints to Clark.
I don't know why Lois was in her PJs though, I don't think that bit was ever explained.
Yay-For-Me - April 19, 2005 06:50 AM (GMT)
Very nice PJ's they were too :whistling:
Ant was amazed at the size of the football stadium. I have to say it was quite large!! Thought Chloe was going to give the game away all the way through the episode, you could just tell she was desparate to let him know.
Cardelia - April 19, 2005 12:00 PM (GMT)
The exterior of the stadium was Minneapolis' Metrodome, although the inside was a CFL stadium. I'm not sure which, but presumably it's the BC Lions who are based in Vancouver (where Smallville is filmed).

I know! Poor Clark, he seemed really puzzled by Chloe's praise and cryptic words :D I also loved the bit where they were talking about how to get the codes out of the safe, Did Chloe really forget about Clark's powers or was she giving him a helpful suggestion? I think this is going to be a lot of fun, before it becomes so annoying that you want to shake Chloe to make her tell or shake Clark to get a clue!

I was actually quite disappointed about that. I wanted Jason to be just what he seemed. And I'm fed up with the whole angry Lana/confused Lana/angsty Lana/drama queen Lana thing <_< If things had of worked out with Jason then maybe we'd have seen the end of that for a bit. As it is, maybe there will be something good on the horizon. I haven't given up hope for a decent Lana storyline yet ;)

You could just tell that's what she was setting him up for
His face as she walks out, and the way he says "What just happened? (or something) was LOL hilarious :D
I'm glad Lois is here to stay for a while
BTW, does anyone else think Lex has been woefully underused so far this season? I hope they have something juicy for him soon.

The guy who plays Geoff was the same actor as the guy who was in The O.C  Anyway it won't be long before Chloe reveals to Clark what she knows about him,i mean it's obvious she can't keep it in.I wish Jason would leave because he is annoying me.Anybody think that Lex and Lana will get together in the future?Hope Lois is happy now that she's with the Kents. Is it me or has Clark recovered pretty quick from the girl Alicia he claimed to love?

I've just watched this and I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the drinking contest at the beginning! Forgetting the PJ's didn't anybody else think it's ridiculous that tiny little lois who probably eats nothing but salads could out drink big bulky American football players who probably eat half her body weight every day and more than likely tend to party all too often. I think she would have to be one serious alcoholic to drink them under-the-table. :o "I've drunk vodka with the Russian generals" as if that added any credibility to her .

Actually, it reminded me totally of Marion's first scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark

Some people have a natural high tolerance for alcohol. It doesn't matter how big you are, or how much you eat, some people's bodies can deal with alcohol much better than others. Likewise some people are a complete lightweight and can get utterly wasted on half a pint of beer.

I agree with that although bodyweight, level of metabolism, drinking on an empty stomach etc are all factors which could affect how much a person could drink. Anyway I didn't buy Lois being able to drink those guys under the table.

Can't say I believe much of what happens on Smallville - unless there really are people out there with super strength, heat vision and the ability to fly (even if they're not quite sure about that yet) ;)
