Lwaxana Troi pays a visit to Deep Space Nine, and soon falls for Odo. Next, the station's computer starts behaving like an attention-hungry child.

Lwaxana Troi used to frighten the life out of me, (she reminds me of my scary aunty!) but ever since I rewatched TNG a couple of years back, she actually grew on me as a character. When she visited DS9, she grew on me further as I loved the interaction between Lwaxana and Odo, both very funny, and sometimes quite moving too.

I guess the Odo/Lwaxana story was the B story in this one, but I found it much more interesting that the tired old Trek standby of the new form of life. A nice O'Brien vehicle though, always fun to see Colm Meaney in action, regardless of the storyline. The Bashir and the federation ambassadors story was fun too.

Another episode that whilst not earth shattering, I've always enjoyed watching it :)

Pretty much agree with everything Andrew said so I won't say it again

Edit: Except for the scary Aunty bit of course!

I like this episode. I've always disliked Lwaxana in TNG for being a self centred bossy pain in the @rse but here she she comes across in a different light altogether, showing humility, and compassion for Odo.

True the main story wasn't much to get excited about. I just kept wondering why Kira has suddenly started wearing a cat suit

It's amazing but both Troi's appearances on DS9 were ten times better than any of her appearances in TNG (with the exception of Dark Page).

A decent side story for Bashir and some excellent w**k from Rene Auberjonois make this episode a lot better than I expected it to be.

Not much to add (for a change  ). I enjoyed the Odo/Lwuxana story, particularly the way it moved from being amusing to quite touching in such a smooth and natural way. Very deft of the writers, imo :)

The rest of the story is a bit ho-hum, although I did enjoy Quark's scene, and especially the little sign exempting himself from all responsibility for theft on the premises
