The inhabitants of Deep Space Nine are mystified when their fantasies turn into reality, however, these occurrences foreshadow a disaster.

This is the worst episode of the season, and has to be one of the worst of the show's entire 7 year run. Almost, but not quite, in the same bracket as TOS's 'Spock's Brain.' I'm not sure what they were thinking of, or what they were on when they came up for the idea for this one, but, honestly! Trek featuring Rumpelstiltskin.... how on earth did they think they could get away with that one! Bashir's submissive Dax fantasy was, while understandable, a bit tacky.

This is an episode best forgotten. Lets name the culprits, shall we... written by Nell McCue Crawford, William L Crawford, and, can you believe it? Michael Piller!

Definately the worst of the series for me

Silly idea that just didn't w**k - also wasn't something a bit similar doen in TNG when they end up in some weird galaxy where their imaginations manifest oslt

Best forgotten.

This is awful. Truly the worst of the season.

I noticed just how many people were involved in the writing. I suppose it's a case of too many cooks....

Moving speedily on

Didn't occur to me until later but here we have a evil entity that's going to destroy us, Oh, hang on, it's not real so if we all believe it isn't real it will all just go away.

Didn't they just do that in The Storyteller, and didn't they do that in the TOS episode about Wyatt Earp. Hand of the Gun, or something?

Nice to finally see Buck Buckai, and the submissive Dax was amusing, but Rumpelstiltskin? WTF? I can only assume that Berman had some input still at this point in the series....... :(

The first episode in this rewatch that has sent me to sleep

At the end I was begging O'Brien to hand his daughter over just to get it over and done with  Plus she's annoying :ph43r: Nice to see that he hasn't forgotten his storytelling abilities, though

I quite liked, in a weird way, the "Maybe next year" line at the end - nice way of totally avoiding any kind of decent explanation

Ugh! <_<

After seeing Michael J. Anderson's fine w**k on Twin Peaks and Carnivale it's disappointing to see him so thoroughly wasted here. He does the best he can with the character, and to be fair, he makes the character more watchable than he otherwise would have been, but for me, wasted :(

Worst.

Episode.

Ever.

One of the few DS9 eps that I really can't face in the rewatches. Really shouldn't have made it past the draft stage

The DS9 Companion describes it as a "delightfully whimsical episode" :ermm:
