Yeah, it's kind of strange watching the show without all those other characters - Chi, Jool, Noranti, Scorpius, Braka, Stark, Sputnik. Moya seems a bit empty without them!
melian - June 1, 2004 01:35 PM (GMT)
Well, I can live without Princess and Sputnic, and Grandma, but I do kinda miss Scorpy-Sue. Stark is just plain annoying most of the time, though he is great in this first season.
willowroolz - June 1, 2004 01:47 PM (GMT)
I must admit that, apart from Zhaan who I never liked, I liked all of the characters. Jool was really irritating at first but once she settled down she grew pretty nicely.
melian - June 1, 2004 01:51 PM (GMT)
I liked Zhaan sometimes, but her character was a bit bipolar really. One episode she was having a 'pleasant' reaction to light, the next she was going insane and thought everyone was dead. I know that is a bit of an exaggeration but I could never really get a handle on how she was. Priestess, warrior, healer, nut job - or all of the above.
willowroolz - June 1, 2004 02:13 PM (GMT)
All of the above, I think. It was the plant thing I couldn't handle. She looked cool with the eyepatch though
melian - June 1, 2004 02:17 PM (GMT)
You were watching a program about aliens and space ships and wormholes, and stuff, and you couldn't handle that one of them was a plant based life form. Why? If you don't mind my asking?
willowroolz - June 1, 2004 02:22 PM (GMT)
I'm not sure. I think it was because it took them so long to mention it that by the time they got around to it it just seemed a bit out of left field. Plus it's just plain silly :P
melian - June 1, 2004 02:28 PM (GMT)
Maybe they had always planned her to be a plant but just didn't get round to mentioning it earlier. I mean she had to be blue for some reason. Didn't she?
For that matter, why were the Peacekeepers so easy to kill with a little warm weather? You'd have thought they would have discovered some way of genetically modifying themselves to stop this particular weakness. They seemed to have no scruples about things like that.
willowroolz - June 1, 2004 02:33 PM (GMT)
Fair comment. It's still better than being a plant though! :P
melian - June 1, 2004 02:52 PM (GMT)
Were you as relieved as I when Aeryn finally told John it was his baby (or John Crichtons baby as I don't think she ever slept with current John.). I mean I knew it had to be his, but there was always that little doubt that the writers were going to frell with our heads and make the baby that blokes who she betrayed over pilot and Moya, or even some other dude that we had not met.
willowroolz - June 1, 2004 03:01 PM (GMT)
Yes, I got all choked up for them. It was a very nice moment cos they'd played the uncertainty of their relationship very well. I liked the way Crichton tossed the coin again. And then his celebrations, and the way Chi, D'Argo and Rygel reacted to it all. Very funny. Very charming.
melian - June 1, 2004 03:05 PM (GMT)
Chiana: "Wha... what's goin on?"
D'Argo: "Now John seems very, very angry."
Trust the boys to get the message all wrong!!
willowroolz - June 1, 2004 03:06 PM (GMT)
And Rygel's reaction to Crichton's proposal "Idiot!"
melian - June 1, 2004 03:12 PM (GMT)
Or when they are watching John get down on one knee.
D'Argo: "Crichton's gone down onto his knees."
Chiana: "Why?"
Rygel: "I think he's hurt himself."
LOL!!
And the way John and Aeryn just look at each other when they realise they can't escape and she sighs and says "You and your timing" and he tells her he loves her and smiles. And then they are hit by that weapon and explode into 'ittle bitty pieces. Sob!!
Some of the chunks fell into the sea. I hope they didn't need those bits.

Could be effective birth control
I got pretty freaked out by Harvey in that episode. I could handle him as most things, but the Easter Bunny?! :o
melian - June 1, 2004 03:23 PM (GMT)
But John looked cute!!! Especially when they were both fighting. Top stuff. But it was one of those very surreal moments that only true 'Scapers could love. Try expaining that scene to a non-believer!! Go on, I dare ya!
willowroolz - June 1, 2004 03:26 PM (GMT)
"Chocolate?"
Sorry - best I could do!
melian - June 1, 2004 03:32 PM (GMT)
But what I really want to know is why was Harvey wearing the pink suit?
willowroolz - June 1, 2004 03:37 PM (GMT)
Didn't you love the "Previously on Farscape" bit - shots from every single episode? Very cleverly done, flashing past so quickly, yet choosing moments that were instantly recognizable so you could identify episodes, seasons etc.
melian - June 1, 2004 03:39 PM (GMT)
Yeah. I keep meaning to try and see if I can ID every episode they showed. But I'm just too lazy I guess :D Do you think they had originally planned to show that or if they only added it when they had been cancelled?
willowroolz - June 1, 2004 03:43 PM (GMT)
I think it was when it was cancelled, the same as the decision to end the episode without music.
willowroolz - June 1, 2004 03:45 PM (GMT)
I loved the bit in Unrealised Reality where Crichton gets to relive his first moments on Moya, and the way he mimicked himself saying "Hi" cos he realised how silly it was :D
melian - June 1, 2004 03:47 PM (GMT)
That was a nice touch!!
I think I may have to rewatch a couple of the season 4 episodes again.

Control! Control! You must learn control! :P
melian - June 1, 2004 03:51 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but I wasn't paying them alot of attention when I watched them last. And I was pretty tired at the time
willowroolz - June 1, 2004 03:53 PM (GMT)
In that case feel free. ;)
melian - June 1, 2004 03:55 PM (GMT)
Thanks for giving me your permisson sir!
willowroolz - June 1, 2004 03:56 PM (GMT)
You're welcome :P
I'm off now - catch y'all later!
melian - June 1, 2004 03:57 PM (GMT)
Bye! Have a good evening Steve!!
melian - June 2, 2004 08:46 AM (GMT)
Ok. You think Crais is cool, well I'm not so sure. I always thought he was kinda sad. He thought he was the Big Bad and all that but he just had delusions of grandeur really. He was insane. And he couldn't even stick to his crazy guns. As soon as Scorpy came along, and he got Talyn, suddenly John is not worth killing. He sure seemed to forgive him in a hurry then. Maybe he came to his senses? I know it all makes a kind of sense in the series but it always just seemed a little wrong to me.
willowroolz - June 2, 2004 09:26 AM (GMT)
I think you've kind of missed the point. Crais was someone who would attach himself to whomever he felt would give him the best chance of getting what he wanted. He wanted Talyn, at which point killing John became a tenuous idea at best. He also wanted Aeryn, and knew that killing John would only turn her against him.
And when I said I thought he was cool I didn't mean cool in himself, but as in he was a good character. I love characters whose motivations are clouded in mystery, and Farscape is full of them! :)
melian - June 2, 2004 01:22 PM (GMT)
Nope. Sorry. I still don't like Crais's character.
willowroolz - June 2, 2004 01:30 PM (GMT)
melian - June 2, 2004 01:34 PM (GMT)
LOL!! Hey, I can't help how I feel about things. Sometimes you just don't like a character, and it doesn't matter how well realised or acted they are, or how much people try to convince you that they are the bees knees, nothing will change your mind.
It's not that I hate the character, because I don't, or think him superfluous to the plot, which he very obviously isn't. I just don't like him. Savvy?
willowroolz - June 2, 2004 01:36 PM (GMT)
He certainly has bad taste in hats!
I really liked Crais. I always felt the series stepped up a gear when he and Talyn were around. There're certain characters, usually bad guys, who bring the best out in everyone else. Scorpy's another one, of course.
melian - June 2, 2004 01:40 PM (GMT)
Yes. I agree about Scorpy-Sue. Well, either him or Harvey.
About the Scarran flower thing, was it just me or did you think that telling the Scarrans that the plant grows on earth was just the stupidest thing that John has ever done (or at least in the top 10). I could see where that was going a mile off. It was one of those 'shout at the tv' moments for me. That boy really should learn to think before he speaks.
willowroolz - June 2, 2004 01:43 PM (GMT)
It wasn't just that, it was the whole concept. It just seemed a bit weak, although I suppose it was a bit different from the usual wanting to take over the universe kind of crap.
melian - June 2, 2004 01:48 PM (GMT)
I suppose they could do that later. You know, it's never good to rush into these 'world domination' type things!!
