Title: Dead Like Me S2

Fangy and grrr - March 24, 2005 02:02 PM (GMT)
No one seems to have posted anything about this weeks episode so here's a few thought's from me.

A decent but not great episode imo. LOL @ Roxy shooting Mason in the restaurant and ( didn't take her long to become a cop did it ? ) at Mason's complete failure with the pea routine.

I liked George correcting the security expert and another good death with the Kitchen Guillotine.

Bit of repetition or lack of continunity between this weeks episode and last week's in that last week George started off all down but by the end of the episode had decided to have a more positive attitude to life ( or death ;) ) but then this week she was down again and by the end had again decided to be more positive.

"No one seems to have posted anything about this weeks episode"

Strange that. I thought seriously about posting on ep2 but I really couldn't think of much to say. It was enjoyable enough, but not spectacular. The guillotine death was a bit too obvious by DLM standards, though that didn't make it any the less toe-curling. Mason's pea routine was - well - it couldn't have gone any other way, could it.

So George gets the 70s type car, which is no bad thing - they had style in those days. Pity they got her in the 70s type wardrobe get-up too. Are we going to see her develop a social life outside the GRs? I will be surprised if we do (the show already has more regular characters than the average).

Competent and entertaining, but perhaps not as off the wall as we have come to expect from DLM.

My thoughts exactly :D

I enjoyed the episode but there was nothing in it that really stood out for me. Hope it's better tonight.

I've enjoyed the first two episodes of S2 but it's not been as good as S1 so far.

laughitupfuzzball - March 29, 2005 05:34 PM (GMT)
Totally missed last weeks <_< looking forward to tonights :)

melian - March 30, 2005 10:51 AM (GMT)
Last nights episode was pretty good IMO. I liked the way George used the whole cat analogy to describe herself, the drunken scene between Daisy and Mason, the way Mason's 'victim' was only in the right place at the right time because he had lost the post it

I really liked this week's episode as well in particular George's cat analogy which I found very moving. I loved Mason and Daisy covering themselves in post-it notes, Reggie and George's mother trying to sell their house, Rube's story and Dolores was as good as ever. :)

Bill The Bloodless - April 1, 2005 09:32 PM (GMT)
Another good episode, as well as the things that have been mentioned I thought George's sarcastic comments were funny. :)

Fangy and grrr - April 7, 2005 06:56 PM (GMT)
Enjoyed this week's episode. Loved all the stuff with Reggie and her mother at the mall - buying the lipstick and the clothes shop worker, great death by stilletto and the dead guy with the massive balls. :fear: I love Dolores who has these great throwaway lines hinting at her dark past - 'you see some of the tatto's I've had to have removed' and ' ... when I was still under those restraining orders '.

Best episode of the season so far IMO

star_fury - April 8, 2005 01:03 PM (GMT)
I don't really have anything to add except that I'm enjoying the second season a lot more so far than the first.

Fangy and grrr - April 8, 2005 02:16 PM (GMT)
I heard on the radio last night that today is the 25th anniversary of the invention of the post-it note ! Just thought this was the appropriate thread to mention it in. ;)

So what did Rube, Daisy etc do before Post-Its were invented?

Fangy and grrr - April 13, 2005 05:47 PM (GMT)
Another decent episode.

Liked the theme of time and lateness - the efficiency drive at Happy Time ( loved ' the Ted ' ), Daisy speed-dating and the little glimpse of Rube's history with the returned letter.

SkiBore - April 27, 2005 06:40 PM (GMT)
Did anyone else notice the newspaper cuttings ? “Toilet seat explosion, one dead” & “Terror Toilet Totals Teen”

Made me smile anyway.

Bill The Bloodless - April 27, 2005 09:55 PM (GMT)
There was a great line from Dolores I think to describe life, unfortunately it's gone right out of my head. :(

Does anyone else think that the reapers seem to be influencing events a bit more than what they should?

One I remember is

Dolores: “Office romances never w o r k - when Julio empties my waste bin he can hardly make eye contact”

I know what you mean but isn't all about fate ? if someone is meant to die then its gonna happen and if one of the reapers influences the death in some way ( like George the other week with the guy who murdered all his co-workers ) then that was meant to happen as well.

Oh and I noticed this week that its Delores and not Dolores which was the way I've been spelling it.

Bill The Bloodless - May 2, 2005 09:23 PM (GMT)
Fair enough I suppose but I'm still not sure I agree. If fate decrees that it is someone's time to die then in this instance isn't it the gremlin's job to cause the 'accident' to occur?

Delores's :) quote I was trying to remember was about love not life - 'when you're young sex is just a big buffet and you're a fat man with a fork.' oslt

Fangy and grrr - May 3, 2005 02:13 PM (GMT)
But in the case of the guy killing his co-workers I don't know how the gremlins could of influenced him. I think you just have to accept that its all part of the plan. :)

 @ that Delores line.

Bill The Bloodless - May 4, 2005 11:32 AM (GMT)
Really enjoyed last night's ep, possibly the best I've seen. The conversation with George and Trip was funny, though from previous ads I knew she wasn't reaping him. :( It did bring to light the possibility of what might happen if there's someone she doesn't want to reap which I can't help but think might be coming up in the future.

Mason and Roxie on the plane were funny too and it was an interesting ;) way to die from a nut allergy.

The school scenes were good as well, with Reggie talking to the young reaper. At first I thought he was there to reap a student, much easier for him to fit in than the others. Not sure if they were trying to say that animals have souls or not.

Also an interesting development at the end with the phone call, definitely seemed that grandma knew it was George.

Olicana - May 5, 2005 01:38 PM (GMT)
I loved it too, although I was disappointed that George didn't stick around to talk to Trip at the end.

And interesting that Reggie picked up that the boy was dead and may know George although I think she took it very well.

melian - May 5, 2005 03:21 PM (GMT)
Gearge met the animal reaper last season in a vets waiting room when she first found the dog that Reggie now has. It was nice to see a bit of continuity

Fangy and grrr - May 8, 2005 09:53 AM (GMT)
I liked the George & Trip conversation as well but any kind of relationship would be very complicated wouldn't it. Didn't recognise the animal reaper from last season at first but it was nice to see him again and interesting that both Reggie and her grandmother seem aware or open to George's presence. :)

Great episode this week

What's been bothering me is that as George is actually dead, was it necrophillia? :x

I didn't recognise Daisy's new boyfriend as the guy out of Will and Grace.

Excellent episode last night, I think DLM has become my favourite thing on the tv atm. :)

The boxing was very funny ( @ Mason's rabbit punch) as was the woman in the hospital, though quite sad as well. And a bit of shock at the end, I wonder where that'll lead.

laughitupfuzzball - June 1, 2005 01:45 PM (GMT)
:lmao: the boxing was hilarious

melian - June 1, 2005 01:51 PM (GMT)
I can't believe Mason actually killed that guy (even thogh he IS a reaper  )

Did Daisy mention something about seeing gravelings being born before or was I hearing things?

Bill The Bloodless - June 1, 2005 02:29 PM (GMT)
I thought she said that she hadn't seen that before but I'm not sure.

melian - June 1, 2005 03:12 PM (GMT)
So just me hearing things then ;)

laughitupfuzzball - June 1, 2005 03:57 PM (GMT)
I'm pretty sure that in Season 1 Mason saw one when he was with George

He looked pretty frightened about the consequences for Daisy

I thought Daisy said that she'd seen it before as well although what 'it' is I don't know but gravelings being born seems a good guess.

LOL @ the boxing match and Mason's attempt's at spelling everything out. I thought the Will & Grace guy did a really good job playing Ray - very repellent.

Bill The Bloodless - June 8, 2005 11:40 AM (GMT)
Another funny and enjoyable episode. :)

A shame about the dog but at first I thought he was there to reap Reggie, which I still think might happen at some stage.

Mason and the purple post it was funny and though a bit obvious I still laughed when it was just because they'd run out of yellow ones. I'm not sure about the interaction between Mason and his reap, it still seems as if he's influence events, though I suppose if it was the bloke's time then it was his time no matter what Mason did.

 @ George and the purse snatcher, she seemed to be w**king out a few of her frustrations out on him.

And going back to last week's, I had another listen and I think Daisy did say she'd seen it before.

I spent the whole episode worried that it really WAS his last day on earth

Fangy and grrr - June 12, 2005 05:10 PM (GMT)
Poor JD :tear: :tear:

They must really get thru the post-it's for Rube to have run out of yellow ones because when Daisy and Mason went thru Rube's flat he had stacks and stacks of them. @ George kicking the crap out of that guy.

Bill The Bloodless - June 16, 2005 06:17 PM (GMT)
Again enjoyed this week's episode though I was a little disappoined that Ray was dealt with so easily.

Also on the recap when Rube and Roxy talk about the envelope were they trying to imply that because he was dead there was some mystical reason why it didn't get to where it was supposed to?
