Dax's previous host, Curzon, is accused of a murder committed 30 years ago, and Jadzia is unwilling to defend him, even though she hides an alibi capable of clearing him.

Hated this one the first time around, then loved it every viewing since
Trek's always handled the courtroom dramas pretty well, with The Drumhead being another personal favourite, and this one doesn't fail to deliver.
It's a great little character study of Jadzia Dax, whilst also giving us some more insight into Curzon Dax, and Trills in general.
There's also the mystery element, as you're never 100% sure of Dax's innocence, and if Dax is innocent, why isn't Jadzia saying so ??
Odo gets to show his detective worth once more and Sisko gets some fantastic exposure as well.
There's not a lot to dislike about this one.

 Good Dax episode. I like the idea of the trill, the idea that the host changes and love Dax as a character.
Sisco again comes across as being very different from Picard, he is far more emotional and temperamental and cannot understand Jadzia's reasoning for not defending herself. Jadzia is nicely portrayed I think, she always manages to portray a sense of maturity and experience and also her previous male side

Solid but not spectacular.
Can't think of too much else to say tbh. Always liked Odo going off and being detective, Dax's character gets fleshed out a bit....

I remember being very bored the first time I Saw this, and not completly getting the whole Dax being Curzon and Jadzia thing (I missed several early DS9's, and never saw TNG's The Host).
Anyway, after knowing just what was going on, this is another awfully good episode, and far better than the TNG-viewer grabber that was Q-Less :)

Good all-rounder, this. An insight into what makes a trill a trill. Also interesting that Dax would rather have faced the extreme penalty than reveal the truth.
Good perfomance from Sisko and I especially liked the judge.

She was in TNG's Survivors as well as one of the Uxbridges :)

Another good one this. Nice to get an insight into the Trill, and Dax in particular. It was nice to find out more about Curzon too... it may have been fun to have met him at some point too!
 too, to James for mentioning 'The Drumhead'... one of TNG's most underrated episodes.

Same here. I remember finding it incredibly yawnsome first time around, this time I found it totally riveting
I love Sisko's incomprehension at Dax's reticence (big words, don't ask me if they made sense  ) and the way he and Kira play off against each other. Also like Dax's quiet resignation and Odo's detective w**k. Quite amused at Bashir running in to throw a punch and ending up on the floor himself, too
I like the framing of some of the shots in Dax's quarters, focusing on Sisko through the cabinet thingy
Great episode

Indeed, and the other Trill (Richard Lineback) was also in the s1 TNG episode Symbiosis, and it was weird as hell seeing Gregory Itzin playing almost exactly the same snivelling character he plays on 24. Typecast much?

How the hell did I not notice Gregory Itzin. I love Logan in 24. Wonderful character
