Title: 1x06 - Sense & Sensitivity
LoobiLou - March 13, 2005 09:06 PM (GMT)
Kate, hardened by years of police w**k, enrolls in sensitivity training with her fellow police officers. At first the training appears to be innocuous, but Angel and others begin to notice her excessive emotions. It becomes especially obvious when she pours her heart out at her father's retirement party. Then, the entire police station goes awry.

one of the few ok kate episode
Kate: Supervisor Caffrey shot himself?
Spivey: It happens.
Kate: In the back of the head? Wrapped himself in plastic? And he locked himself in the trunk of his car?
Spivey: He'd been depressed.
funny angel with his undercover hawai shirt :lmao: . also angel not noticing cordie new shoes and trying to explain it's not a guy thing and doyle arrived and notice them in the following seconds.
sensivite angel ... kinda scary ... too nice, too embarrassed, too sorry ............. someone slap him
Kate: Look at Doyle. Really look at him. What do you really see?
Cordelia: A bad double polyblend?
Kate: That's defense, Cordelia. Maybe you should try to open your heart to a new possibility
---------------
Kate: Well we could do that, but see I have this...
Cordelia: Personal problem you're gonna share 'til dawn?
Kate: ...gun. And I don't want to come off as insensitive, but if either one of you try to stop me I'll have to blow you the crap away
-------
kate and his father ... :wox:

I've often heard people disregarding this as a bad ep, but I've always rather liked it. It makes me laugh, especially when Angel goes all sensitive. And it gives us a greater insight into Kate, and the problems she has with her father. Why do all B/A characters seem to have father issues?
It was quite fun how with the opening scene they made it look like it was Buffy rather than Kate, but I think it was taken a bit too far with the flying kick. <_<
I'm sure there was something else I was gonna say about this, but I'm tired and I can't remember so I'l leave it there. :)

 what more could you ask for, tears, laughs, and Angel being all super sensitive
good episode, like the bit with cordy and dolye in the sewer and typical cordys ranting while doyles being eaten nearlly :D
love Angel all in touch with his emoitions, group hug :lmao:
I felt sorry for kate when she told her dad what she thought, and at the end when he just dismissed it all
not bad 6/10

Sense and sensitivity isn’t one of my favourite episodes of the season but it was more enjoyable than I remembered. It’s full of humour but then there is also the darkness of police brutality and Kate’s strained relationship with her father.
I always love the scene in the police station near the start
Kate: So, you haven’t seen him since the day this picture was taken? The day county supervisor Caffrey was found murdered?
Prisoner: I heard it was a suicide
Kate: Supervisor Caffrey shot himself
Prisoner: It happens
Kate: In the back of the head, wrapped himself in plastic and locked himself in the back of his car
Prisoner: He’d been depressed :lmao:
You’ve got to love Cordy having a rant about Angel ignoring those closest to him while poor Doyle is being strangled by the demon behind her
And the return of the Hawaiian shirt as a disguise, used in City of.
The return of Wolfram and Hart, I find Lee very very creepy in this episode. You can see him as having no feelings at all – “that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside” :fear:
And Doyle notices Cordy’s shoes right away but she has to point them out to Angel
Angel: Picture your audience in their underwear
Kate: <looks at Angel> Way ahead of you there
Goofy sensitive Angel was funny but would have gotten annoying if it had been stretched out any further – “He admitted it to me after I threatened him with physical violence” and “I feel you judge me [ when he vamps out]”
I feel very sorry for Kate at the end of this episode, her father didn’t even want to acknowledge any of the problems she brought up at the bar. Whilst I realise that he would have been embarrassed that it was brought up in front of his friends, he should have still talked to his daughter :(

The episode was okay but i didn't really like kate. I would have to give the episode a 5/10.

Does no one else think that sensitive Angel is kinda like Angelus....? Some of it seemed like he was being saracastic, to me. :fear:
I like this episode. Poor Kate, she's so vulnerable :tear:
Love all the funny moments that people have mentioned, and the story with Kate and her dad is very touching. That W&H guy is so creepy, as Laura said.
Erm...can't really think of anything else to say...

This has always struck me as somewhat middling but I really like the idea that there has to be a limit to how much sensitivity we can reasonably handle before the results become hilariously destructive. sk

I like Kate, so I liked this episode. An interesting take on the LA police force, and the idea that sensitivity and hardness must be carefully balanced. Kate's relationship with her father is harsh and cold, which warmed me to her character. His subsequent rejection of her love in the episode's conclusion is devastating.
The sensitivity of Angel however at first seems funny, but then feels a little silly, and takes some of the action away from Kate and the police force morals. perhaps a grittier study of the LAPD would have improved this episode.
Overall, quite good. 7/10
Allen: What were your parents like?
Angel: My parents were great...tasted a lot like chicken.

I warmed to Kate more after this episode. Not one of my faves, by any means, but There are a few standout moments. Angel being sesitive was funny and I agree with Margot C, about the Angelous factor!

First time I watched this episode, I didn't think it was anything special, so I wasn't looking forward to rewatching it too much, but I was surprised that I really enjoyed it second time round. Angel's goofy acting and hawaiin shirt disguise is just priceless as is his new found sensitivity. I loved Cordy talking him through how to smash a window and break in. "Now, its your turn Angel..." I didn't really enjoy all the hysteria in the police station, but Kate is great in this episode and shows that the actress (argh-the name escapes me now) is capable of comedy acting as well as the oh-so serious stuff that we're used to. at the Angel/Cordy/Doyle hug.

I'm not a huge Kate fan either but I do like her in this epsiode. The lighter side of the Kate character suits her :D
I love 'sensitive' Angel as well the rest of the police force
Cop: I hear what you're saying, but I don't think that you are listening to your mugger's feelings at all.
Just what you want to hear after being mugged <_<
Cordy: He put the whammy on you! You stink with whammy! :lmao:
Cordy: Right now. It's time for you to get all vampy - grr! - Kate needs you.
Angel: I don't want to. You both withdraw when I go vamp. I feel you judge me.
Cordy: We won't judge you, (to Doyle) will we? Give it a try.
Angel: Closeness is too important to me right now.

I'll give this epsiode 7/10 ;)
prophecy girl - April 1, 2005 07:36 PM (GMT)
Angel: Cordelia, you need to...
Cordelia: No! I don't care what horrible thing is about to happen -- asteroids are hurtling towards Earth, unspeakable evil is rising in the San Fernando Valley, Jar Jar is getting his own talk show, whatever -- I don't want to hear about it. Not 'til you ask us how it went.
Angel: ... call your mother back.
LoobiLou - April 6, 2005 01:22 PM (GMT)
I’ve always been a big Kate fan, so this episode comes across as great! Kate’s whole back story comes across as very sad, the scene where she confesses all is one of the saddest in any Angel season, epically when she goes on about another little girls mom and how she wanted to keep her :tear: Kate’s Dad, although just looking out for her best interests, deserves a good kicking imo :)
The plot it’s self is a bit silly, but lead to some funny scenes, Angels “I threatened him *looks away in shame* with physical violence” always makes me laugh
Lots of great Kate scenes, more of her back story reviled, funny Angel moments – all makes a great ep :)

 I really enjoyed this episode this time round although I wasn't looking forward to it. Very funny and I did feel very sorry for Kate at the end.

love that quote from Cordy as Kate and Angel go into his office  so very true

I like this episode, it tells us more about Kate and her life so far she's just been the cop.
Angel trying to be grateful to Cordelia is funny plus when everyone turns super sensitive is funny too. Angel in that shirt and hat.
Kate's speech to her father is very sad.
Tony: "You've – you’ve been running after me for a long time, haven't you sweetheart? If I'd know how bad you wanted me, I might have let you catch me a little sooner."
Kate: "If I'd know how badly you needed the exercise, I might have let you run a little longer." :lmao:
6/10.
