Title: 1x05 - Rm W/a Vu
LoobiLou - March 13, 2005 09:05 PM (GMT)
Cordelia Chase lives in the projects, and she's not happy about it. When she returns one evening to her roach-infested digs, she decides that desperate times calls for desperate measures and moves into Angel's apartment. Angel, unthrilled by his new roommate situation, makes a pact with Doyle: if Doyle can find Cordelia new digs, Angel will help him out with his debt negotiations.
Doyle holds up his end of the bargain and finds a stunningly beautiful one-bedroom apartment. At first, Cordy's on top of the world, but she soon gets the willies. Drawers open and close, furniture moves, and the wind blows to and fro. After some research, Angel learns that the apartment was owned by a woman who mysteriously died in the 1950s.

 I really like this episode, Cordys flat is ewwh, poor girl goes home and finds lights that don't w**k, brown water comes from the taps, and then finally the multitude of roaches :( :fear: makes her call Doyle for help. who is on his way to answer the phone when he runs into a little trouble of his own, we see here a little more of the doyle puzzle which is nice, like how doyle gets away.
I like how Cordelia goes straight to Angel's place, interrupting his shower and moving herself in, love the bit between Angel and Cordy
Cordy: “Get this. I tried to call Doyle. I have sunk that low. And there was no answer. So, here I am. Not that you’re the last resort. It’s just that I have nowhere else left to go. Roaches. Live one, dead ones. All skinny feet and creepy antlers.”
Angel: “Antlers?”
Cordy: “Oh, my god! I wonder how many stowed away in that bag? Also the water is all brown and spurty, and not hot! I am dying for a shower. I – actually smell! Smell me.(This always reminds me of when Buffy asked him to smell her) I never smell. I didn’t know I could. - I’m just going to have to stay here until I can find a decent place, however long that takes, and when I do you are completely invited over. Hey, you can just dump my stuff on the couch – or let me have the bed. What ever you feel good about. Also, my suitcase is still out in the hall. Your shower is in here, right? You have mousse? – Of course you do.”
she then disappears into the bathroom while Angel stands there scratching his head.   Intrusive or what!!!
The next morning poor Doyle thinks somethings been going on
Cordy: “Hey, Doyle. You ever get that feeling that you just can’t shower enough? Like something’s happened and you’re never going to get clean?”
Doyle stares at her: “What?”
Angel comes up behind him, to Cordy holding up one hand: “You got peanut butter on the bed.”
Cordy: “Really? I don’t think so. (Angel shows her his hand) I’ll look.”
Doyle: “No, no, no, no, no. Angel man, how could you?”
Angel: “How what?”
Doyle: “Man, you know I was crazy about her, and I was wearing her down, too. But no, handsome, brooding vampire guy has to swoop in, all sensitive mouth and overhanging forehead How about leaving some scraps for the homely looking fellas who don’t turn evil when they get some?”
I love the turn around of Cordys emoitions with maude
Maude: “You better be sorry, you stupid little bitch.”
Cordy stops crying and slowly looks up at Maude: “I’m a bitch.”
Maude: “Take off the bed sheets, make a noose. Go on. It’ll all be over soon.”
Cordy slowly gets up and looks Maude in the eye: “I’m not a sniveling whiny little Cry-Buffy. I’m the nastiest girl in Sunnydale history. - I take crap from no one.”
Maude: “You are going to make yourself a noose and put it around..”
Cordy: “Back off! Polygrip. - You think you’re bad? Being all mean and haunty? Picking on poor pathetic Cordy? Well, get ready to haul your wrinkly translucent ass out of this place, because lady, the bitch is back.”
:fear: :fear: :fear: :fear:
Excellent ending with cordy on the phone back to her old self and feeling right at home with her new house guest
Tell me who's wearing what in Sunnydale. - No! Well, she never did have any taste. She is so nasty."
Really good epp 10/10

This is the first Cordy-centric ep, and deservedly so. I always see this episode as representing the hell that students have to go though when they get their own place, with cockroaches, shoddy water, and bad neighbours who just want them out. Cordelia is on fine comic form, and hoorah for the introduction of the Phantom Dennis!
Of course, this is by far not the best Cordelia episode, and the haunted story is a little bit of a cliche, with a hidden body within the walls, but the Dennis twist was an interesting one. 7/10
Angel: "People called them the Cordettes. A bunch of girls from wealthy families. They ruled the high school. They decided what was in, who was popular. It was like the soviet police if they cared about shoes."

love that episode, great cordie episode, ....
angel: my name is angel. what's your?
a scary flashback :fear: scary mother
Doyle: Who's Aura?
Angel: I think she's one of Cordelia's group. People called them the Cordettes. A bunch of girls from wealthy families. They ruled the high school, decided what was in, who was popular. It's like the Soviet Secret Police if they cared a lot about shoes. :lmao:
love cordie bitch speech in the end ... good to have all good cordie back ... and a great start for phantom dennis :lmao:

I like this episode. Hmm. I seem to be saying that about all of them, wonder why? :)
This was a nice development of Cordy as a character, and I think it's where we first begin to really see that there's more to her than just a spoilt brat. The creepy old woman is really scary! She's just so horrible!
I like the twist that it was her who killed Dennis and not the other way around. I also liked the little furthering of the relationship between Kate and Angel, joking together and her taking him seriously and helping without asking questions.
"Private Detectives have resumes and licences...and last names. Popstars and Popes, those are the ones with no last names" (or something along those lines)

I really like this episode, it’s nice to see an episode devoted to the main characters and not a MOTW. We get some development of Cordy and see a little glimpse of the way Doyle lives his life.
:x to Cordy’s apartment, cockroaches and mucky water, gross.
 at Cordy imposing on Angel as he has just gotten out of the shower.
Cordy: “someone from your part of England”, seriously look at a map .
Some references back to the high school years on Buffy with Angel telling us Cordy’s story and Cordy mentioning that graduation was rough when Doyle mentioned her burnt diploma.
Cordy gets an apartment that she rents, how would she be allowed to knock down a wall? Surely tenancy agreements would have something against that . Also, notice in the cleansing scene that DB gets hit in the head with one of the books when he is trying to get Cordy to stand in the circle – ouch.
It’s great to see Cordy stand up to the ghost and regain her strength “The bitch is back”, a nice metaphor for finally being able to stand on your own two feet once you have your own place.
And Angel asks for Doyle’s life story near the end of the episode, acknowledging that we know nearly nothing about the one main character who we hadn’t met before the premiere.

I love this one. It's such a classic Cordy episode and there are some great quotes and scenes. I love the scene where she barges into Angel's apartment and just doesn't let him get a word in edgeways. And mmmm, Angel in a towel....
Although it is rather a pity that she was so close to potentially staying at Doyle's, if he hadn't had his unwanted visitor, and then who knows what might have happened between them.
@the book hitting Angel on the back of his head. I'm not sure I took heed of that before, but it made me giggle this time.
I like the way she eventually stands up to the old woman, and the fact that things aren't as clear-cut as you'd have first thought. What a creepy woman - bricking up her own son. :fear:
And yay, the introduction to Phantom Dennis. From listening to the commentary, Jane Espenson said she wanted to use Dennis as his name rather than the originally proposed "Bob" to parody the name of the new Star Wars that had just come out. I'd never connected it to that before.

Great fun with the more grown up twentysomething angst about trying to find a flat. Buffylike but more so. Sometimes I think I might have underrated this one but I am not sure. Trying to watch the butchered Ch4 edit put me off this first time round and that has stayed with me unfortunately. sk

Great episode, great humour. Love that Cordy flipped when called a bitch and did her big speach. I love Dennis too :D

I love this first 'Cordy-centric' episode.
Back off polygrip! Makes me laugh every time  That whole speech is hilarious
And LOl @ Doyle for thinking that there was something going on between Cordy and Angel. Just because she was sleeping in his bed..........
9/10

I don’t think much to this episode, never have really. It’s probably because it’s a Cordy central ep, and she annoys me most of the time (I consider her to be Angels only flaw). The reason for this is her child like dialog. Whenever there’s a dramatic or emotional scene, she usually brings it down by talking like an 8 year old with her Buffy speak. I understand that she’s the energetic, social member of the group that’s supposed to help Angel get back into the real world, and that she played a huge part. She even had a few performances I loved in certain eps, but sadly for the majority of the time, she just annoyed me to no end :ermm:
Anyway, back to the episode. It was quite creepy in some places, mainly with the old lady and her makeup. I thought Doyles side story in this ep was far more interesting though, loved the scene where Angel says there’s someone at the door for him and then cuts him off on the way out, very clever. Also, Angel pwning that demon in Doyle’s apartment was great fun to watch, always good to see Angel winning a fight almost effortlessly, and off course with clever threats included.
Can’t think of much more to say on this ep, out of the entire five seasons I’d probably stick this right at the bottom for the reasons stated above. Cordy braking down at the end seemed very trivial to me, we were supposed to feel sorry because daddy’s little princess got her money taken away, when personally I couldn’t give a toss

I really like this episode, I was never a large fan of Cordy until Angel and she grew on me over the seasons. She is great in this one. Poor Doyle, Cordy finally calls him and he's not there
Quite a creepy story behind it all :fear: at the woman bricking him in

A good episode. Doyle thinking Angel and Cordy are a couple is so funny  Learning a bit about Doyle's past, good also. The ghost is kind of scary and i'm glad that Cordelia has an episode based on her.
"The bitch is back"
