Title: Book Club. The First Book Is Chosen.....

jamiearmour - March 7, 2005 05:55 PM (GMT)
The book was nominated by Melian. It's Watchers by Dean Koontz.

Easily available and for those impoverished students out there, it is quite cheaply available these days.

If everyone can try and get it for the 14th of March. We can start this book club thing off properly then :D

 Ok I'm in, I'm heading to the library tomorrow anyway :)

obnoxious brat - March 7, 2005 07:31 PM (GMT)
I jsut bought it off of amazon for 1p! (ok p&p like £2.75, but I thought buying something for 1p was pretty amazing B))

Oh, fab - this one is sitting right in front of me saying 'read me, read me' :)

Just got to finish Trainspotting first :)

ken1701e - March 7, 2005 11:01 PM (GMT)

"I am my thoughts" - March 8, 2005 12:44 AM (GMT)
Already have it in my book collection, gathering dust!

Michelle - March 8, 2005 12:53 AM (GMT)
Alrighty, I'll have a look down the library tomorrow. Never read any Dean Koontz before so it should be quite interesting. :)

I hope you all enjoy the book ;)

Sparkle Motion - March 8, 2005 12:52 PM (GMT)
I re-read this a couple of month's ago so I shall contribute my worthy comments when required ;)

melian - March 8, 2005 01:00 PM (GMT)
Great

laughitupfuzzball - March 8, 2005 02:35 PM (GMT)

Hey, we'll all be here to hold your hand (metaphorically speaking :D ) at the scary bits.

Unless, Melian, it occurs to me, you never suggested an age certificate for the book. What do you think? A 15 rating? Koontz aint that scary.

Sparkle Motion - March 8, 2005 03:54 PM (GMT)
Maybe even a 12.

goth willow fan - March 8, 2005 04:22 PM (GMT)
Couldn't find a copy this morning. I'll have to search further afield.

Persephone - March 8, 2005 04:25 PM (GMT)
I'm sure I have a copy of this somewhere

I'll have a search :)

I'd probably agree with 12. Watchers is really more of a psychological thriller than an out and out horror, and there is a really cute doggy in it :D

little pixie - March 8, 2005 05:10 PM (GMT)
Since I am ( ahem ) :whistling: slightly older than 12, I shall have a look at it in a bookshop to see if my nerves can take it .....

Like the sound of the cute doggie !

It's not another Cujo, is it? ;)

You'll have to read it and see won't you.

I'll try and get hold of the book this weekend, I definitely want to join in.

little pixie - March 9, 2005 01:12 PM (GMT)

Good to see you taking a chance

I knew the cute doggie line would help the cause ;)

grrrarrrgh - March 10, 2005 11:06 AM (GMT)
Room for a little one? :D

little pixie - March 10, 2005 12:46 PM (GMT)
All breathe in - the reading room is getting crowded :)

Does someone want to fetch more chairs ? I want mine with the back against the wall and a view of all the exits, just in case someone shouts ` BOO !!! ` :o :p

melian - March 10, 2005 01:07 PM (GMT)
We promise to try and behave :innocent:

I'm off to buy my copy tonight.

Actually I already own the book but it lives in Manchester with lots of my other books and it's really old and dog eared so I thought it was about time to treat myself to a brand spanking new copy

Shiny :D

I used to have the book and I thought it was currently residing at my brother's place but he insists he hasn't got it  Gonna have to make a trip to the library ;)

melian - March 10, 2005 01:33 PM (GMT)
Good luck :D

Michelle - March 12, 2005 03:20 PM (GMT)
Well, I went to my local library and it wasn't there, checked on the online catalogue and it was available in another local (ish) one. Went over there, and managed to find it.

Along the way also picking up 2 agatha christies and a book by Cecelia Ahern, merely because she's my namesake. As if I haven't enough to read.

Cardelia - March 12, 2005 08:28 PM (GMT)
Play.com are currently doing a 3 for £15 offer on Dean Koontz books. For some reason Watchers isn't included, but 30 of his books are there. So if anyone likes his stuff after finishing Watchers, you know where to go to get the back-catalogue.
