Title: 1x04 - I Fall To Pieces
LoobiLou - March 6, 2005 07:09 PM (GMT)
As Cordelia and Angel continue the debate of whether or not to charge for their services, Doyle receives a vision of yet another woman in distress. Angel pays a visit to her workplace and learns that the woman is being terrorized by her neurosurgeon who is somehow mysteriously able to watch her every move.

stalking doctor ........... kinda reminding of angelus stalking buffy and co
but nothing much to say about that episode, kate is kind of interesting in that episode, kinda caring about the victim.
an other mention of wolfran and hart
any explanation about why angel felt whatever the doc injected him .... i mean his heart doesn't even beat ...??

This is a pretty creepy epsiode :fear:
The story is just your basic 'pretty girl in trouble' scenario but the bad guy is just so scary that it really elevates this episode.
Fav Cordy quote.........
Cordy to Doyle: You're a lot smarter than you look. Course, you look like a retard.....
She giveth. And she taketh away :lmao:

I really liked this episode- it had the potential to be a bit naff (eyeballs floating round everywhere...) - but the humour and the actual creep factor pulled it through for me. I especially liked Doyle and Cordy going round sealing themselves in Angel's appartment with duck tape!

Wasn't that keen on this episode. It wouldn't have done well on Buffy, and it didn't really w**k on here. The whole charging for money thing is also a bit iffy, as was pointed out eventually in Buffy. However, this is one of the elusive Doyle episodes, so I suppose it has some merit. 4/10
Cordelia: "As vampires go, you're pretty cuddly."

I tried to keep an open mind about this episode cos I've always classed it as one of my least favourites, and to be honest, it was a little better than I remembered, but I'd still put it in the bottom quarter.
Yeah, it was rather creepy, but there's just something about it that doesn't appeal to me as much as other eps.
Questions:
How did the paralysing drug affect Angel even slightly?
Why didn't Doyle and Cordy put on more lights in the apartment when they were trying to protect Melissa so there weren't so many darkened corners and shadows? (I know, dramatic effect )
How stupid was Doyle to put his head down the hole where there had just been a detached hand wandering about?
Do US atms w**k differently in that you choose what money you want to take out before you put in your pin?
My favourite line of this ep was the one Cordy said to that Nurse when talking about Ronald - "He ever strike you as a big dangerous creep?" Oh, and I liked the fact that Angel wore a beige jumper to see Melissa, rather than stick with the "black on black" look.

You think too much, Michelle :)
I really like this episode. It's fun, daft and creepy... a bit like me :ph43r:

Not one of my Favourites, don’t really know why it doesn’t w**k for me, cause I think the story line is a good one, very creepy!!!
Can you imagine having a stalker like that ewwhh:weird:
Or maybe I am looking at this all wrong, it could be quite useful if your other half was away somewhere and you were lonely :whistling: :D :lmao:

I really haven’t got much to say about this episode. (You see? It does happen occasionally! :) ). It’s just simply not very good. And especially for a Joss episode, there’s a distinct lack of sparkling dialogue.
Saying that, Andy Umberger turns in an excellent performance as Ronald – very creepy. I just don’t like watching it.
One or two good points: I liked the bit near the beginning when Doyle was talking about Angel’s attractiveness and billowy coat – followed by the slo-mo shot of Angel walking out of the office, coat billowing. Fun. And I liked Angel changing into a cream top (got to be the only time in these early seasons!) so he wouldn’t frighten Melissa. And discovering, practically as an aside, that Ronald’s lawyers are Wolfram & Hart (nice touch). A nice speech from Kate about Ronald having taken Melissa’s power away, that every night he’s killing her in her dreams. A lovely scene with Angel in Ronald’s office, very cool. Cordelia’s hair “up”, and looking very pretty. Noticing (because I’d forgotten) that Melissa’s apartment building is the same one as the hotel – you even see the guard running through the courtyard garden! Cordelia snatching the cheque off Melissa at the end.
But apart from that…nothing much there.
4/10
Wow, that has got to be my shortest review ever!

Thought I'd jump in with a  to this episode as I thought it was pretty good :)
A few silly "it fits in with the story so we'll use it even if it makes no sense" errors that everybody else has covered, but other than that I thought it was enjoyable with a well acted baddy. As with a lot of the early eps it has a nice feel to it - see CB's comment :)
P.S A short AF review, whatever next  ;)

this episode just freaks me out; scares me soooo much that I have to press mute despite having seen it however many times.
Having said that I'm a big fan

5 / 10 for me.
Middle of the road that unless I was going througfh the entire season (as this) I wouldn't pick it to watch.
As I am sure you all know by now, I am a huge Buffy / Angel fan and love anything to do with one mentioning hte other. To me this ep is far to away from Into the Dark. COnsidering it only happended what, a week ago, it was soon forgotten. I think that the Dark Avenger meets damsel in distress bit is wearing thin at theis stage as out of 4 eps Angel rescues (0r tries) 4 women.
let's move plotlines quickly guys!
Thought the doc was ever so creepy thoguh and where have I seen the girl before?

The worst episode so far, but still quite watchable.
6/10

I’ve never really been a big fan of this episode, I’m not really sure why – maybe it’s because it’s following some pretty strong episodes. I love this in the teaser:
Doyle: He likes playing the hero, walking off into the dark with his long coat blowing behind him in that manly and attractive way.
Cordy: Is this a private moment, ‘cos I can leave you alone.
Doyle: I’m not saying I’m attracted…
Later
Doyle: Well, maybe I’m a little attracted
Doyle seems to connect to Melissa very well in this episode, I think I’d be a little uncomfortable having someone I didn’t know in my office all day. It’s nice to see Melissa stand up to Meltzer too, it’s very creepy to see his hands in her bedroom :fear:
The thing that Meltzer shouldn’t w**k on Angel, it’s not being pumped around his body since his heart isn’t beating. The only time we have seen Angel poisoned has been in Graduation Day and that was a special poison designed for vampires. And how did Meltzer change Melissa’s PIN without having her card?

I like this episode a lot. It's really creepy, but in a good way

Yet another brilliant episode! And just like Lonely Hearts, completely underrated. This whole episode contributes to the desperate/lonely theme, carried through out the entire first season. With a few shoddy eyeball and teeth effects aside, this is a creepy episode, based on plot and not just the effects. It’s the little touches like the note on the flowers which read ” My undying love, Ronald”, and the expression on Melissa’s face when she reads it. Kate’s speech about stalkers winning and Angels speech about falling apart – and Melissa describing her life before Ronald. All these things show you the silent part of the struggle and partly what we haven’t scene. It also suggests that there doesn’t have to be a supernatural element for it to be terrifying for the victim.
All the cast did very well and were all well chosen, overall I’d say this is a top episode, despite it’s bad rep (and bad science  )

:) Just watched this again and I enjoyed it as much as before. Ok there are plot holes but its entertaining. Cordy and Doyle double act becomes stronger, shame it doesn't last long and love the creepy doctor with detachable parts.
Some of it is a little cheesy I'll admit but its a good story, it also addresses the fact that Angel is charging for saving people and gives a valid reason for doing so.
:)

Not a bad episode because the doctor is so creepy. Doyle finding Angel attractive
