Is it just me or is the best sequence in this film the events on the ENTERPRISE B!!?

For me this is the least enjoyable of the NEXT generation movies, not only does it have the pointless, meaninless, annoying death of the greatest legend of the TREK series, (for that alone B+B should be hung/drawn and quatered) but for the most part, to me, it seems the slowest of the movies.

Dont get me wrong still a good film and the only one that I saw 3 times at the pics.

It certainly has it's flaws, but it's still my favourite TNG movie. I'm sure you know by now that my opinion of the latter couple of movies isn't exactly glowing

First Contact is very much an action piece, where by and large this is character driven. Pat Stewart gets some truly excellent scenes to play, and this is the first real glimpse of the TNG crew on the big screen, with a large budget to w**k with.

You have in Soran, what is for me, a tragic villain, the guy just wants to get back to a place where he can still be with his family. Malcolm McDowell's just brilliant in the role as well.

The effects, the musical score, the performances, for me it all comes together, to represent the best w**k done by the TNG gang on the big screen.

I know I'm in the minority on this one, other people tend to prefer First Contact, but for me, this one's light years ahead, despite it's obvious flaws ;)

And the scenes between Picard and Kirk are just fascinating. You could have made an entire movie just about that meeting. A long time coming, but they worked very well together IMO.

I WISH THEY HAD!

Co-incidentally on Friday night I watched the SE for the first time. Finally got to see the alternative ending and I can see why they remade it.

I still think that the film is Berman having a clearout. Kill Kirk, (why exactly?) kill the Enterprise D, kill the Duras sisters. And I still think that Veridian 3 has an awful lot of rusty ironwork for a uninhabited planet, and why Picard keeps changing his uniform? I mean, you get back to find that your first officer has wrecked your starship and what's the first thing you do. Change back into your old style uniform. Of course.

It,s not that I don't like this film. It's a good film. Sadly it passes up the chance to be a great movie.
