Title: A Question
Childhood Trauma - March 4, 2005 10:14 PM (GMT)
I have been catching the end of The X Files on Sky One before Angel starts and Scully has a baby and I was wondering if it were Mulder's or not?

That is a question everyone wants answered!
I think there was an idea that it could`ve been Duayne Barry, the Alien Bounty Hunter, A.D. Skinner, Mulder, or even Frohikes Baby! :fear: :ermm:
The `truth` :shifty: is we don`t know (or I don`t know) who`s it is, but I beleive that Scully named him William, after Mulders dad, & that Mulder wanted to adopt him, (or have I made that up)?
Anyway, it has summat to do with Scullys `abduction`, but i`m not sure what. :(
I know this is not a very helpfull answer, :whistling: but I`m sure there are others out there who could give you chapter & verse about it.

No, it is Mulder's baby. Quite how isn't entirely clear. Scully had had her ova removed when she was abducted, but Mulder had found them in a later investigation. He gave them back to Scully who then tried artificial insemination with Mulder as a donor. It didn't take though ("Per Manum" S8) and yet she got pregnant anyway. That's the mystery.
Personally, I reckon it was all triggered by the chip in her neck, in an effort to create the first naturally born genetic alien-human hybrid. And William was supposed to be the first, which naturally made him in big demand with all sorts of groups. But we shouldn't discount Mulder's dramatically altered DNA following his brain meltdown and transplant operation with CSM (S7 opening episodes). That could possibly have played a part in him impregnating Scully the natural way.
Complicated, much? There's a much more potted simplified version that they feed you in the very very last episode "The Truth".

Hi Ghostmachine,
:lmao: I absolutely love your theory!! I think everyone's always had trouble getting their heads round her pregnancy and the part with Mulder & CSM puts everything in place! (as much as you can for TXF anyway LOL! ;) :) ) I always thought too much about the religious aspect of the sixth extinction to have considered that but it makes everything make sense - how M&S were both used by the government - and speaking of the religious factor it fits the story too, linking perfectly with the whole religious idea of William's nativity scene birth! :)
I like that a lot because I prefer it to the M&S bedroom idea! Personally as much as I fantasized in the first few seasons I stay a noRomo because the fun was too much to bargain!:) :( :) :) :) But then again it must be Skinner - the fact he was the first Scully told, the look on his face of "omg how do I tell my mam!" :o , the undeniable triangle scene and of course Mulder's description in Existance! ;)
 The truth is out there! ;) :p
Lots of love, JM :) xXx
