I voted for Wesley- I really liked the idea of his character just randomly popping up in Angel and you got to see his character develop far more. I liked Doyle, but you didn't get to see such depth with him and I think I got more emotional about Wesley in the later seasons than I ever did about Doyle.
Also, Wesley's prettier. :innocent:

Mmmmm Wes (well, Angel S3 onwards...)

I really like both characters, but i went for Doyle because he shouldn't be forgotten just because he died earlier on. Wes was great his character developed a lot in 5 years and became quite dark at times, Doyle developed a lot also in his 9 eps, but he was a lot funnier than Wes.
It was a really hard decision because they were both great in their own ways.
Ems :)

I chose Wesley only because he was in the show much longer so i have more of a opinion on him.

how can you compare a character who appear in 10 episodes and an other who appear in 4 seasons .... <_<

Same.
Doyle was great too though :(

As great as Doyle was, I chose Wes. Maybe if Doyle had been around longer it might be a different decision, but then again it might not be. Wes' character development was great and very drastic over the 6 seasons he was in the Buffyverse, and that is one of his main attractions.

i will choose wesley from season three to five

Not knocking Doyle but I'll just say Guise Will Be Guise. Wesley was funnier in that ep than Doyle was in all of his 9 eps put together. :)

rogue demon hunter wesley in leather ....

I vote Wesley. Never cared much for Doyle - GQ was a good actor but I didn't find him or the character at all attractive.

I vote Doyle. Wesley always annoyed me, even when he grew his 'sexy' stubble and brooded a lot.
star_fury - March 5, 2005 04:13 PM (GMT)
I chose Doyle because he made such an impact in the short space of time he appeared in Angel. It is a tremendous shame he couldn't have continued in the series which I think had something to do with him having cancer in real life?
While I acknowledge Wesley grew as a character and became fantastic in the final two seasons I would have definitely preferred Doyle to have remained in the show if it was possible. Just think there wouldn't have been any Angel /Cordelia love story line because Cordelia and Doyle could have been coupled together! I think it could have had the same potential as Xander and Anya, offering a lot comic potential to the show imo.
The more I think about it the more disappointed I am because there would be less chance of Lorn joining the cast because there wouldn't be a need in the series for another comic element, no Pylea! God Angel the series could have been so much better! :(

i suppose doyle was the right guy for cordie (even if half demon)

Wesley. I liked Doyle but Wesley grew into such a great characer over the 5 seasons. Still, if Dolye had been in it for longer, who knows what would have happened.

too bad we never learn a little more about doyle past (i mean there was a good plot in the monsters island book ... actually about his dad but still)
laughitupfuzzball - March 5, 2005 07:00 PM (GMT)
I really liked both characters although it took a long time for Wesley to grow on me.
If it was just season 1 then I would say Doyle, overall it would have to be Wesley but its very hard to compare given the different length of time on the show.
Very sad that we never learnt any more about Doyle, they could have given a little more mention to his character after he died :tear:

No. Joss has always stated that Doyle was only meant to be around for 10 episodes, there were rumours going around at the time but I don't think they need to be brought up again. Afaik Glenn Quinn did not have cancer.
I loved Doyle but it's very hard to choose him over Wes. How can you choose between two vastly different characters?

RIP Glenn, so sad that he was taken so early in life :(

I loved doyle I thought he was a mega character and Glenn Quinn (RIP) was great but I had to vote for Wesley because his character was more developed and as a character i feel i know him better
