LoobiLou - March 2, 2005 09:38 PM (GMT)
Who’s up for a full run through all 9 seasons? Two or three eps a week? Post in this thread if you’re interested :)

Crichton Kicks - March 2, 2005 09:42 PM (GMT)

It's late now, we'll give people a chance to see this thread and then decide on a time to start, but if people can hint at when they could start now then that would be good too :)

I'm currently watching 24 season 3, so as soon as I'm finished with that, I'll be up for the X Files rewatch. I'm not planning on ploughing into anything else for the near future anyway, cept Angel of course ;)

I know, but I find it really hard to watch :fear:

The first time I watched it, and I'm going back a few years, we lived in a flat that had that awful vented air heating system. I kept an eye on it for months I tell ya

Crichton Kicks - March 2, 2005 10:16 PM (GMT)
I'll be ploughing into a Shield rewatch after I've wrapped up Season 4 Farscape, but if we're doing the XF at 2 eps per week I think I can manage

We showed it to one of our cousins years ago and he ended up being traumatised for months afterwards. Sleeping with the light on, wouldn't go upstairs on his own kind of thing  Oh the fun.....

I think we've got all the people we're gonna get. I can start this at anytime, so what would be the best time for you lot? A week? Two weeks? A month?

Also, could we make it a season a week? I tend to get through them quickly :ph43r:

Any chance that I can come in on the rewatch - only one problemo is that I only have series 1,2,4,5,6,& 7!!!

How many eps a week is it and when is the rewatch starting please?

LoobiLou - March 21, 2005 01:53 PM (GMT)
Of course, the more the merrier :) There's no start date yet, if everyone agrees on one then we'll start it up :)

It'll be two eps a week ;)

Most excellent – I take it we are starting with Series 1 then?

How about a start date of Tuesday 29th – as then it will give everyone a chance to dig out their box sets over the Easter period!

1 right through to 9, that dates fine with me - are we all in agreement then? :)

Jae - March 21, 2005 08:02 PM (GMT)
I'm up for it, the only problem is I have them all on vhs, with the exception of S9 and I find videos really fiddly so I'll probably only watch about 2 or 3 eps a week.

Trust No1 - March 29, 2005 10:23 AM (GMT)
Hi all,

I'm up for it, I have just finished last year watching season1-8, took 6 weeks so burnt myself out. I have just got round to watching series 9 ( what swayed me was I rebrought them all on dvd) have just finished D-4. I must be mad but I missed season 9 on tv so I rewatched all the boxsets first.

I duno about anyone else but I enjoyed series 7 and 8 and from what I have seen of season 9 (4 eps).

I stopped watching x files on the bbc due to them mucking about with the schedule but still brought the box sets.

Please count me in.

Have fun Trusty :toomuchtv:

The only things that put me off about seasons 8 & 9 were the constant shoehorning in of the regulars, ie. Mulder and Scully. This was particularly obvious in season 9, as almost every appearance by Scully that year was superfluous to the actual story at hand.

I know some people couldn't get past the loss of Duchovny and the downscaled role of Anderson, and disliked Rob Patrick and Annabeth Gish consequently. Personally, I loved their performances. I'd have preferred it if they'd gotten rid of Mulder and Scully at the end of season 7 and let Duchovny and Anderson go off and do their own thing at that point. Neither of them wanted to be there. On that basis I feel the show would have worked a lot better. It was only the reluctance to embrace the new and bid farewell to the old that really hampered the last couple of yeasr IMO.

That being said, the XF at it's best, for me, was still the Mulder & Scully era

LoobiLou - March 29, 2005 11:29 AM (GMT)
I’ve decided not to take part this time round, rather than lie and then not post anything. I will be rewatching them all, just at a different (faster) pace, I’ll add the odd review to a few eps though :) Got a few Angel eps to catch up on when I get back too :)

There are no bad seasons imo, whether it's classic Mulder and Scully, late Mulder and Scully, Scully and Doggett, Reyes and Doggett - they are all great for different reasons, and the fans who say the later seasons are bad are just plain wrong :p

willowroolz - March 29, 2005 01:28 PM (GMT)
I never had a problem with Reyes and Doggett... until the former signed for Arsenal, anyway...

Rhyanne - March 30, 2005 11:35 AM (GMT)
Okay so Episodes 1 & 2 this week then with a synopsis to be added on Monday?

All episode threads and Synopsis’s are already up for season 1, I think we just need a new thread giving a new start date so that more people are aware of it :)

If anyone would like to take over this rewatch then by all means, please do :)

You know, I'm fairly sure that since I said that, I've probably watched The Shield twice.....Although, Farscape S4 still eludes me!
