Title: Rescue Me

I haven't seen anyone mention this fairly new American drama on Sky One before. Is anybody else watching this?

Ummmmmmmm, kind of  :D I watched the first 3/4 and I liked it but recently I've kinda let it slide  It's good but it doesn't really grip me.

I've been watching it from the start and it's gradually getting better, I think that may be because now I know who the characters all are ;)

Sparkle Motion - March 2, 2005 05:27 PM (GMT)
It's fantastic. Completely politically incorrect and very funny

I know what you mean, once you know the characters a bit more it gets funnier, although i am finding that some scenes are a bit dirty for my liking. It's worth watching imo.

Ems :)

Another one that I've got but not yet watched

I wouldn't say rescue me is fantastic but it's definitely one of the best programmes on at the moment. I love the political incorrectness and the darker nature of the series. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised after watching the first episode because I was expecting some lame firefighter drama making them all out to be heroes after 9/11. Instead I found it refreshing to see flawed characters completely politically incorrect and very funny.

TV Crazy - March 3, 2005 05:32 PM (GMT)
I wasn't expecting it to be good, but i saw it advertised a lot all over the place so thought that i might as well give it a try, the scenes in the ads were funny - paying the kids to give him info on mum's new boyfriend :lmao:.

I agree, it's not the best show around, but there's very little that i like on at the moment.

I have to admit that I am very impressed with it so far, I was expecting a downbeat, gritty 'day in the life' of the New York fire department post 9-11 type of show, and although it does have a serious side, its also has one of the funniest scripts I have heard for a long time, some great situations and has an excellent yet unexpected supernatural edge. I for one would certainly recommend it.

star_fury - March 4, 2005 01:06 PM (GMT)
It's quite surprising how many people really like this show and yet nobody's mentioned it on these boards before!

melian - March 4, 2005 05:16 PM (GMT)
It's a bit early for this show to be classed as 'Cult' ;)

I'm sure someone will eventually start a forum for it over on our sister site, US Drama

I was wondering if anybody else thought that Sky One missed an episode of Rescue Me?

While watching the beginning Preview on last week's episode, I think it was, they seemed to show scenes that I don't recall happening. I'm fairly certain I've recorded and watched every episode previous to that. So did Sky One miss an episode? Or have I managed to screw up and miss an episode?

melian - March 11, 2005 04:21 PM (GMT)
I thought it was just me

Somebody switched over the ntl about halfway through an episode a couple of weeks ago and I thought it must have happened then.

I'd better just check, what bit are you referring to? How they all saw him speaking to the dead girl?

me too I'm glad someone else noticed

I'm talking about him and his ex-wife getting together briefly, also him possibly seeing a psychiatrist or some kind of doctor? Which could have been after he was talking to the dead girl. I remember him talking to the dead girl and he got sent home afterwards it's just those other two events I don't recall...I think that's it anyway.

melian - March 11, 2005 05:43 PM (GMT)
D'oh

No, I don't remember those bits either. I remember it being suggested that he go see the shrink to get some time off as he wanted a holiday but had no days left. I'll have to watch the last few episodes again this weekend ;)

Was that Chase from 24 S3 playing Dennis Learys's younger ( cop ) brother I spotted last night ? Looked like him.

I didn't watch last night's episode at least not yet anyway. Have we seen him before last night's episode? Because we've already seen he has one brother who's a cop and that definitely wasn't chase from season three of 24. The brother we have seen before who is a cop played the character O'Reilly in the HBO prison drama Oz. If there's another brother who's a cop I don't know yet?

Stewie Griffin - March 12, 2005 10:40 AM (GMT)
I just checked out the TV Tome episode guide and none have been missed out. (I do remember the parts you mention too)

Tommy does have at least two policeman brothers, Johnny (O'Reilly in Oz) who has been in most episodes and Timo (Chase in 24), although it was his first appearance and to be honest it did throw me a little - I thought that it was someone else playing Johnny at first!

Thought it was him. :) I almost didn't recognise him either what without the shaved head and with a New York accent.

melian - March 14, 2005 04:54 PM (GMT)
I totally didn't notice it was him

As for missing bits, after rewatching the episodes I had on video I think the only bits I am missing are the bits that didn't get recorded because of the moron in my house <_<

Right, from now on I am going to hide the remote :shifty:

Season finale tonight, just starting, looks intriguing

Cool stuff  This really has been an excellent series. It really built up the tension tonight with the other firefighters finding out about Tommy's affair with Jimmy's wife, the subsequent fight and then ending up with Franco in hospital :tear:

Some funny stuff as well with Franco with his daughter shopping and the whole polite divorce request :lmao:

I have to admit, I haven't followed it avidly, I missed/only caught part of some of the earlier episodes, but I've seen enough to know this is quality stuff

I taped last nights and intend to watch it at the weekend (if my Shield watching doesn't get in the way ;) )

I'm sure you can find an hour to squeeze in Tommy and the gang :D

Just watched it again, soooooooooo good  I didn't take in all the people he "sees" previously and that's the reason that Franco is in the hospital, trying to save him. The last 5 minutes or so are very evocative, really strong stuff :D

I definitely missed an episode of Rescue Me because somehow my tapes must have gotten mixed up... or I have a poltergeist. Anyway as it turned out I watched that missing episode yesterday but I don't remember what it was that I missed. I can't wait till next year to see more episodes since Rescue Me was definitely one of the best new shows of the year.
