Title: The Seige Part 1

Olicana - March 2, 2005 10:04 AM (GMT)
I didn't quite realise we were so close to the end (even though with SG1 finishing last week we must be!) and I think last night's episode only served to highlight some of my niggles
1. I don't like Dr Weir very much at all because of the way she is scripted. She doesn't sound like a leader and she's too worried about keeping people happy than leading. She always seems to be apologising.
2. Ford needs a good storyline - most of the time you don't realise he is there.
3. Can they at least involve a character for an episode before they get killed off? As soon as some unknown becomes part of a mission team we know they are the one to get killed off and we just don't feel the tragedy we're supposed to at another loss of life.

I think that's most of them! Although I'm sure more will come back to me :)

I'm quite looking forward to season two, as I think this one is setting the scene and from season two onwards they can begin to have more adventures. Which is the guy who is disagreeing with the way Weir runs things? I'd like to see a bit more of him as internal conflict is always good (this is where you tell me he's the one who got killed off last night....)
I'll keep watching though, the niggles haven't stopped me watching!

Do you mean Colonel Everett? I don't think they showed what happens to him. It would be nice to see him in season 2 though.

Or did you mean that long haired Scientist guy? He was just a pain in the arse. Feed him to the wraith.

Olicana - March 2, 2005 02:22 PM (GMT)
The long haired scientist - now there would be one to watch - it's clear everyone thinks he's a pain - either feed him to the Wraith (and see how everyone reacts) or have him nearly killed by the wraith but rescued by Weir. I thought the psychologist might start featuring a bit more too (I'm rubbish with all these names!)

Can I just remind people to be careful with putting spoilers in their posts.

I have been trying to keep spoiler free for SG:A and thought I was safe reading this thread as it is for last nights episode. Now the season finale has been spoilt for me.

Spoiler warnings are a wonderful thing ;)

Bakhesh - March 2, 2005 04:47 PM (GMT)
Sorry Melian. The episode specific threads are spoilery, but I should have posted a warning anyway. Personally, I avoid these threads until I've seen the eps

If its any consolation, I haven't given away any of the good bits. You'll still enjoy the finale.

:)

I thought that this was a good episode. I loved the part where Groden turned on the artificial gravity and McKay ended up on the floor, that made me laugh. It was a shame they killed Groden because he reminded me of Walter/Siler from SG-1, he pretty much had the same role, but at least he destroyed one of the wraith ships, i thought it was going to be the unknown guy who was on the satellite that would be killed off, because we didn't know who he was.

Did anyone else think that Sgt. Bates was right about Teyla being a risk, i know she's on Sheppard's team and all, but i think he should have realised that it could have been Teyla giving away their Alpha site, and he shouldn't have taken the risk.

Don't worry about spoilers melian, i don't know what's going to happen, so i won't be spoiling anything for you.

Ems :)

Absolutely. Sheppard can be a right idiot sometimes.

I know! He's my fave character and i don't like saying mean things about him, but in this instance he was wrong. I'm glad someone agrees.

Sometimes I wonder if anything will happen between Teyla and Shepphard or will we have to wait five seasons before even a hint of romance. Certainly Sheppard does seem to be a little blinded by her, and as you both say she probably wasn't the best person to be on a mission until they were sure she could control the Wraith voices and assess the risk of the Wraith taking control of her.

In other forums we try not to spoil future episodes in the episode specific threads so I thought it would be safe to read. In the farscape rewatch people that know whats going to happen next usually relish the chance to act all superior and mysterious about it ;)

Bakhesh - March 4, 2005 12:11 PM (GMT)
Well, the BSG board was full of spoilers, so I assumed the same policy was carried over the others. It does say on the "Stargate Atlantis Season 1" board heading "Warning: May contain spoilers"

It is fairly hard to talk about a specific ep without using spoilers. Maybe we need to ask the admin bods for a ruling.

By the way, have you seen the eps yet? What did you think?

melian - March 4, 2005 04:57 PM (GMT)
I've seen this episode, I just haven't seen the season finale because that isn't on until next Tueday. That is why I thought it was safe to read this thread ;)

I've quite enjoyed this series, the whole idea is great with a fabulous new Big Bad!

The series did start to drag a little in the middle but it rallied a few episodes ago and I'm really looking forward to next weeks

Bakhesh - March 4, 2005 05:50 PM (GMT)
Yeah, pretty much in agreement with you there. Good complementary show to SG1 though.

Olicana - March 4, 2005 06:55 PM (GMT)
I like the Wraith as baddies, especially when they found out that the language was a derivative of ancient - I think it means there's going to be a whole lot of interesting history behind it. I really like McCabe and Carson and the Russian guy, they inject a lot of humour in to it. Just realised that unless I set off early I'm going to miss the finale - aargh!

Crichton Kicks - March 4, 2005 07:00 PM (GMT)
I thought, as opening season's go, Atlantis' wasn't too bad at all. There was a definite lull towards mid season, but there was enough there to keep me interested for season 2.

TV Crazy - March 4, 2005 07:23 PM (GMT)
Atlantis has made a very good start as a spin-off, there have been some fantastic eps and i can't wait for the finale and S2.

Ems :)
