So what's ya reading at the moment ??

Synopsis and review (of a non-spoilery nature).

jamiearmour - February 27, 2005 12:45 PM (GMT)
Astonishing X-Men: Joss Whedon writes the characters like he was born to the task  And he's signed up for another 12 issues and a giant sized annual :D

Strange: A fascinating retelling of the Dr Strange mythos. Written by JMS, well worth the wait between issues.

New Avengers: The "old" Avengers were destroyed by one of their own, so now a team made up of Marvel comics biggest powerhouses fights to save the world. The team is made up of.... Spider Man, Captain america, Spider Woman (remember her cartoon series kids?) Luke Cage, Wolverine, daredevil and Sentry. All crafted by one of the best writers in comics, Brian Michael Bendis.

And I can't wait till the end of March, DC are throwing out a sequel of sorts to last years Identity Crisis. If you read that series you know that some villains were getting their memories adjusted to make them less evil, now they're getting those memories back, and they're pissed big time. :fear:

Phoenix: Endsong. Jean Grey is back from the dead.... again (what's this the tenth time or something?) and she wants her husband back, or dead, whichever.

Coming up in the next few months, which will be added to my "must buy list"....

All star: Superman. A slight variation on the established Superman mythos. Supes only has 12 months to live after contact with a kryptonite asteroid. How will he spend his last year alive???? Well in issue one he tells Lois that he is really Clark Kent!!!!!????? Written by Grant Morrison with art by Frank Quitely, Two good Glasgow boys

All Star: Batman and Robin. A story set during the first couple of months after Bruce took a youn Dick Grayson under his wing(s). The story will be told from the young Robins POV. Art by Jim Lee

Serenity: Based on the series/movie, written by Joss Whedon. Published by Dark Horse comics, coming out early summer.

The House of M: The Scarlet Witch. The villainess revealed as being responsible for the deaths of several Avengers and the dissolution of the team. She's catatonic, many heroes want to help her, some want revenge. But any of them will need to get past her daddy to get to her, and her daddy just happens to be.... Magneto.

DC Comics previously announced that a six-issue mini-series called “Albion” would be published through its Wildstorm imprint. The comics was created by Alan and Leah Moore and John Reppion, and drawn by Shane Oakley. Albion will revive many old comics characters which first appeared in British comics in the 1960s such as master criminal The Spider and invisible thief The Steel Claw -- possibly two of the first UK comics "anti-heroes", although both characters were softened later in their run. Albion is set to launch in the summer of 2005. Check out more on British comic character revival from a story by John Freeman at Comic World News at http://www.comicworldnews.com/cgi-bin/in...
