Title: FOX's 2004-05 schedule
Description: Changes ahoy . . .

Psycho Jack - May 20, 2004 10:16 PM (GMT)
Fox unveiled quite a few changes for its upcoming scheduling . . .

24 moves to Monday night with Athens (new from The OC people) as it’s lead in, but most importantly, it wont be back until January. It will however have no hiatus period, running for a full 24 weeks.

The OC and Tru Calling will be sandwiched together on Thursday to go up against Survivor and Will & Grace/Joey (for the former) and The Apprentice for the latter. Also The Simpsons, King of the Hill and Malcolm in the Middle will carry on Sundays and American Idol will be back.

More . . .

DigitalSpy

Zap2It

Cheers Moe, I was going to go hunting this down later.

Interesting to note that 24 is doing exactly the same thing as Alias with no return until midseason.

Not good news for Tru Calling, going up against the formidable THE APPRENTICE, we can only hope it's novelty value has worn off by then. The only show able to top it this season has been CSI.

Just one more 24 ep left of S3, can't wait

Psycho Jack - May 20, 2004 10:28 PM (GMT)
No worries . . .

They all seem to be learning from the cables that re-runs suck!

A few more bits and bobs on NYPD Blue and Alias

And yes, poor old Tru is going to have mucho-problemo! :(

Also – Family Guy is slated for summer 2005 re-start. Swwwwwwwwwwweet! :D

Just goes to show the power of DVDs.

Hopefully if it does well, which lets face it, it will, Fox will reassess the Futurama situation. <_<

If that gets another lifeline, I’ll be a happy bunny!

Crichton Kicks - May 20, 2004 10:52 PM (GMT)
There was nothing wrong with Futurama other than Fox thinking it was another Simpsons clone and jumping the gun when they eventually realised it wasn't.

IMO, in many ways Futurama was the superior of the two shows.

Psycho Jack - May 20, 2004 10:59 PM (GMT)
Oh God yea.

Futurama was almost like Simpsons Mark 2. Sometimes when I’m sat there watching some of the earlier Simpsons, I’m thinking “Jesus! What were they thinking of?”. It only really matured with time.

On the other hand, Futurama was bang on from the word go imo. I think the official line was “Its too adult for a cartoon blah blah blah” or some other crap. But I think it was one of the most unfair and unnecessary cuts to Fox’s scheduling.

Crichton Kicks - May 20, 2004 11:02 PM (GMT)
It's FOX, what more do you need say;

Futurama, Family Guy, Firefly, Dark Angel, John Doe.........

Tamer than I'd have gone with but I agree with the sentiment :)

And on that note, I'll bid you all a good night

I just wasn’t sure if we’re allowed to swear on here or not. Else it would’ve been uncensored! B) :)

Night!

You could always use the old Beeb censor-dodging tactic.

Fox - Those w@nker$

Rightyo, later !!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting that FOX is pairing THE OC and TRU CALLING on Thursday. Both shows are in their second season and so have a fan base. If I recall, they appealed to roughly the same audience. By placing them on Thursday, FOX knew they were going to face ratings busters, so FOX must have modest expectations--just as long as they draw enuf of the right viewers.

For me, the most interesting competition will be between THE OC and WILL & GRACE which already seems archaic (hardly a replacement for FRIENDS). I doubt that SURVIVOR viewers would be interested in THE OC, and vice versa, so no give-or-take there. Just a guess.

I cannot understand the appeal of Will & Grace, it's bloody awful. I would actually like a network to portray a REAL gay man, how did the US version of Queer as Folk go down, was it like the British version?

Eric McCormack isn't even a real American (he's Canadian). :)

I don't know the much about QUEER AS FOLK except that it has gone thru at least 3 seasons on a cable network--which would make it at least a modest success. I think I've seen both the UK and US versions on the video rental shelves.

The woman I lives with loves this but to be hones I think it is pure crap

There wont be a decent US comedy left pretty soon.

Persephone - May 23, 2004 11:18 AM (GMT)
I'll be controversial and say I think English Comedy is better

There aren't any that I'd tune into. The critics love one called ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT which I haven't caught yet. Maybe there'll be something in the new season.

Crichton Kicks - May 23, 2004 04:18 PM (GMT)
I still like Scrubs :)

Although I would tend to agree, we do comedy better. Usually.

Persephone - May 23, 2004 08:15 PM (GMT)
Scrubs I do like, very much so, I'm sure there are others too, just can't think at the moment!

Psycho Jack - May 23, 2004 08:50 PM (GMT)
I have to be honest, I am looking forward to Joey. But at the same time I am worried they’ll mess it up. Eitherway, getting to see Drea De Matteo (she of Sopranos) on a regular basis is nothing to complain about!

I think I read Scrubs got picked up for two more seasons. Which is nice! Cause I quite like it too. Still need to catch up with S3 thought. Thankfully my mate has them all downloaded and burned!

Likewise :)

I've held them back for when Friends finishes next week on C4.

Joey - look on the bright side, it might be another Frasier and run another 10 years. Poor ol' Matt LeBlanc though, 20 years in the same role ;)

Persephone - May 23, 2004 09:08 PM (GMT)
I'm sure he's grateful for the job ;)

Crichton Kicks - May 23, 2004 09:10 PM (GMT)
At least he can't complain about being stereotyped, he's done it to himself

Psycho Jack - May 23, 2004 09:14 PM (GMT)
I'm sure he is too! :D

There was a classic episode of Fraiser a few weeks back when one of the “Rosanne” lot guest starred as a children’s entertainer who had been doing the same thing for 20 years. Anyway, in passing she to said to Frasier: "Do you know how it feels to play the same character for over 20 years!!"

Crichton Kicks - May 23, 2004 09:16 PM (GMT)
My favourite Frasier is the one with Michael Keaton as the con-artist in the wheelchair. Might have to locate and d/l that one actually :)

Psycho Jack - June 1, 2004 06:56 PM (GMT)
Full Fox line up for Jan 05 . . . here

I do like the look of both House and Johnny Zero. Might have to add to download list!
