Our last "official" news post for Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman was this past October, when we first confirmed that the series was indeed coming to DVD. So fans of this show might have missed our late January news about the DVD release of George Reeves' Adventures of Superman, in which we revealed that both the old black-and-white show and the 1993 Dean Cain/Teri Hatcher series would probably be released on disc on the same day in the Summer of 2005.
Warner Home Video has not announced that date yet, but common sense tells us that we should expect it within the 30-day window leading up to theatrical debut of the new Fantastic Four movie on July 8th. Since big budget superhero films always seem to lead to superhero television show DVD tie-ins, we would guess that anything from the first Tuesday in June onward is fair game for a release date for Lois & Clark, and Adventures of Superman as well.
While we wait to announce that street date and all the other details, though, we have an exciting first look at the box for Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman - The Complete 1st Season. We here at TVShowsOnDVD hate to throw the word "exclusive" around, because you never know when the web site up the road on the information superhighway may be showing or telling the same thing, but we think we're the very first place to have this look at the package:

An update;

Warner Bros has just announced the first season of Lois & Clark for release on June 7, 2005, which has been a long-rumored date. Running 1034 mins, this 21 episode season will occupy 6 discs. The release will contain a full frame (1.33:1) picture, and stereo sound. Stores will apply discounts to the $59.98 list price.
Fans can look forward to some Super extras on the set, including:
* "From Rivals to Romance" series retrospective * Visual Effects Featurette * Dean Cain Pilot Commentary * Original Pilot Presentation
Part of the second wave of 2005's yearlong celebration of Warner Television's 50th anniversary, Lois & Clark will be packaged with not one, but two bonus DVDs containing episodes of other shows. The ongoing rebate program will also be in effect, which rewards consumers for purchasing multiple qualifying sets.
Also on tap for June 7th is the third season of Wonder Woman, and possibly the yet-unannounced The Adventures of Superman starring George Reeves as the "Man of Steel."

I'll be buying it... my mum & I watched the whole series, right from when I was about 5. I remember being so confused when they changed the actor who played Jimmy Olsen, I don't think I understood that they were actors, I thought it was all real! :stoopid:

I loved the first season, but just like Sliders, it went downhill after that.
As soon as they started getting rid of, and replacing characters it began to show in the quality. Don't quite remember why they switched to 'fat b*stard' Jimmy Olsen, I thought Michael Landis did alright in the first season. And just why they got rid of John Shea as Lex Luthor I'll never know

I liked Michael Landis, too, he brought a good sense of humour to the part, and his interplay with Perry was quite funny. But the powers that be wanted someone more "teen friendly" in the role
I really enjoyed the first two seasons, after that it was shite (apart from the Ultra Woman costume :ph43r:  ).

I thought it would be something like that
The show shot itself in the foot as soon as Lois found out. Way to misjudge your audience

I'm reminded of one of the few episodes of Charmed I've seen and enjoyed (Vic watches it from time to time :ph43r: ), Witches in Tights, that one has a superheroine theme as well

It's true though. Vic watches it. I got the first three seasons of Buffy on DVD a few weeks ago. Can't get her to watch them for anything, then I'll catch her watching Charmed instead :o
There's something not quite right there

Thinking about that, it was that whole storyline where Lois lost her memory etc that really killed the series for me, it was just dreadful <_<

Yeah, I agree. There was also the b*llocks about Lois knowing all along that Clark was really Superman. Yeah, course you did
Even generally speaking, the stories in the final season were awful, which was a shame given the quality of the first year in particular.

God, I hated that storyline so much, it really annoyed me and was basically rubbish. And I had very low standards when I was age 5-8 (approx how old I was when the show ran), it didn't take much for me to enjoy a tv show, so the fact that I couldn't stand it doesn't reflect too well on the show
