Title: Klingon Cowards

Why do Klingon ships have escape pods if they aspire to die in battle. I understand that they may have them to avoid dishonourable deaths in warp core breaches etc, but why are they used after a battle.

maybe this shows the changing face of the klingons and how their society is changing as there seems to be alot less blood lust from them, maybe their becoming a civilised society???

There doesn't seem to be a smiley for flying pigs.

On a similar topic, before we're all told the reason for the Klingon forehead thing in enterprise, what are people favourite theories?

Mine is currently one I came up with this morning. I heard that the ninja's were founded to do the dirty w**k that the samurai's were to honourable to do. I don't know if that's true but it made me wonder if the klingons had a similar thing in their empire. I thought that maybe a race of half klingons might have been employed as klingon ninja's, and one day they took over the empire, meaning Kirk and co only saw the half klingons and not the bumpy ones.

One potential idea is that while we can have balck skin, white skin or whatever, some Klingons have bumpy heads and some don't.

For the most part of Klingon history, the smooth-headed Klingons were treated as slaves, inferior beings and whatever. Then during 2266-2269 (the time of TOS), the smooth-headed ones lead a rising, and claimed some dominance. Shortly afterwards the bumpy ones reclaimed the dominance, and things have carried on in the same way up till 'today'.

Thus when Worf says 'it is something we do not discuss', the minor period of power for the smooth-headed ones is treated as an embarassment to the Klingon Empire, and something they'd rather forget.

Of course, this brings up the problem of Kor, Koloth and Kang, who had smooth heads in TOS, and bumpy ones in DS9 :)
