Title: If Books Could Kill.....

I just wanted to find out what your favourite and most hated books are, so.....

Which book could you extol the virtues of till the proverbial cows came home?

And which book could you gladly see tossed into the deepest pit in hell?

My favourite book which I repeatedly sing the praises of would be "Reaper Man" by Terry Pratchett. An hilarious study of what happens when a vital public service is taken away

My least favourite book? Star Wars: Splinter of the minds eye. I don't know why, but I felt this book was totally sh*te. I felt it totally rewrote everything that should have happened between episodes 4 and 5.

So hows about you guys?

You have to remember this was written straight after A NEW HOPE so nobody including the author knew what was going to happen next.

I havent read it for years but I dont remember it being that bad.

Going to have to think about it seriously to think about my favourite and worst book.

Gosh. Difficult question there Jamie. I'll have to go away and have a little think about that one...........

It kind of debunks Lucas's whole claim that he had the plot worked out for all of the movies before he started on the first one don't it?

It was badly written and if anything it actually detracted from the characters that had been built up in the first film.

The first of so many let downs in the SW universe :tear:

My favourite book must be Wuthering Heights. No, Harry potter. Or is it To Kill a Mockingbird? ;)

Anyway, the most hell-worthy books for me - the rubbish that is Jane Eyre and the complete tissy-tossy-tangle that is Ulysses, by James Joyce. Jane Eyre has already had a good kick across the room, and Ulysses will soon. Once I've finished studying it. :innocent:

Oh I like Jane Eyre. :(

Favourite books- Guns, Germs and Steel by Jarred Diamond; Mansfield Park by Jane Austen; Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett

Least favourite books- I'm not sure but those damn Animal Ark books are definitely contenders

Definitely two of the worst books I've read have to be Buffy and Angel books. The buffy one being "Blood & Fog" and the Angel one being "Impressions". Dull, dull, dull.

Thankfully, I didn't pay for the "privilege" of reading them, I got them from the library.

Blood & Fog did have a couple of nice back history scenes, there are some really bad ones though :)

That would depend on who comissioned the book wouldnt it.

Did it have Lucas's blessing or not?

I seem to remember enjoying it at the time but it is a long time ago so I might be wrong. (I read it the week it was first published!!!!! - dont even still have the book)
