goth willow fan - February 6, 2005 03:09 PM (GMT)
QUOTE
The crew of Raptor One crashes on Kobol. Baltar and Number Six look upon the face of the future. Starbuck reaches Caprica and finds the Arrow of Apollo. Adama orders the arrest of the President over her ordering Starbuck to retrieve the Arrow, and Boomer goes on one final mission to destroy the Basestar orbitting Kobol. Old Alliances fall, and new ones are formed, and someone is shot by Cylon agent...

What they all said ;)

goth willow fan - February 18, 2005 11:15 PM (GMT)
I did think I'd summed up the situation rather well

Craig G - February 23, 2005 06:37 PM (GMT)
i think you did sum it up really well! :)

the only time in the last few years that i have been gripped to a show as much as i have been to battlestar galactica was during the run of buffy season 5, and that now in comparison wasnt as good (but that could be because battlestar is more recent in my memory?)

bring on season 2! and get that damned president out of jail, she rocks :)-

FRACK!

Ditto

Those last five minutes are almost poetic. What an ending! So many unanswered questions

Best bits: the fight between Starbuck and Number 6; the Galactica forces storming Colonial 1; Baltar and Number 6 on Kobol; multiple Boomers ( ); Lee turning the tables on Tigh; that ending :o

Worst bits: it ended :(

No idea why I didn't comment on this first time around

You could be right :ponder:

It'd be a first, though :lmao:

I've got to admit that, after watching the mini and the first season over the last four days (quite a feat for me - you know what a lightweight I am  ), the series has soared in my estimation. You were right all along

Superb, can't wait

Crichton Kicks - July 27, 2005 10:06 AM (GMT)
I had really low expectations of the series I have to admit. After the hokey original version and after seeing some of the production photos and reports about the new series it sounded awful. Just goes to show how wrong you can be sometimes

I think people interested in space-borne sci-fi last year took one look at Enterprise, one look at Galactica and that pretty much sealed Enterprise's fate. Galactica's sci-fi for the people with taste and who want something other than a rehashed plot played out by cardboard characters.

Your first disc got away this morning Steve. Enjoy

And the answer is...

YES! They do say "frack" in the original series!

I watched The Lost Planet of the Gods last night and both Starbuck and Apollo utter the word (Starbuck has to say it twice, of course).

So those visions I had, as unsettling as they were, of Dirk Benedict saying it were true

A bit of a late and generally lazy review as I can't be bothered to comment on all the eps.

Bl**dy marvellous and I can't wait to watch the second series.

Now you've said that, you've got me wondering as well

Oh hell, this means I'm going to have to watch the original when the dvds turn up :lmao:

Might finally give me an excuse to watch them as well, after having them for 12 months already

Did someone say "rewatch"? :fear:

Rewatch would entail me having watched them once since I've gotten them

 You're right, wouldn't want to have to do that. At least Boxy's hardly been in the new series, and there ain't a Daggit in sight

A wise decision to be sure. Hardly fits in with the tone of the series does it, having a huge camp robotic dog wandering around

That's Number 6 isn't it?

This was the only episode on the last disk of the set -- along with special features. It was worth the rental.

A lot of very exciting threads with Starbuck's being the least exciting for me. She walks right up to the arrow?! She decides to scuffle with a Cylon?!! If I weren't waiting for her first sight of Sharon, it would have been real boring.

I liked the the confrontation with the President up to the point that the President inexplicably gives up. (BTW, this is a rare difference between the American system of government and BSG's -- in the US, Adama would be committing mutiny just as Tigh accused Apollo when Apollo turned his gun on Tigh).

Loved Boomer's mission to blow up the Cylon ship and the discovery within. Did anyone else think of ALIEN at the sight of the ship's interior?

The Raptor crash survivors lucked into some nice Canadian scenery.

And -- what an ending!! I didn't expect it.

Did they say "frack" in the original series? I can't remember. But I'll be able to find out in a couple of days

I was surprised to see in the Special Features on this DVD that in a scene from the original BSG, Dirk Benedict does utter "Frack!".

For some reason I had visions of Dirk Benedict saying it

Now you've said that, you've got me wondering as well

I can scupper your excuse, James

And the answer is...

YES! They do say "frack" in the original series!

I watched The Lost Planet of the Gods last night and both Starbuck and Apollo utter the word (Starbuck has to say it twice, of course).

So those visions I had, as unsettling as they were, of Dirk Benedict saying it were true

:)
